Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 60Gal. Deluxe Rain Barrel (DRB) The barrel is 'good' and could do the job. I purchased 1 pc. DRB to supplement my backyard's 2 exisiting rain barrels (which I could no longer afford to buy because of their rising cost). The HomeDepot DRB material & appearance, although a little bit inferior when compare to those of my existing & expensive ones, could serve the same purpose. Its easy to install, and its piping system is easy to reconfigure to suit my requirements. I collected rainwater after a heavy rain last night,..right now all my barrels are filled to their capacity - and the DRB is standing tall side by side with my expensive barrels with no problem at all. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is amazing!!!! We have been knocking around getting a rain barrel for some time and this is our first. We got it and installed it in a couple of hours. We had to move a bush and I took the time to create a solid base with foot square paver stones. It rained that evening so we had to rush out that morning to see how much water we gathered. The barrel was full!!! So we used the water where we were growing grass seed and emptied the barrel. Well it rained the next evening and ... yep we had another full barrel of rain water. We can't wait to install our next one out by our garden. Good construction and the gutter diverter is easy to install. April 15, 2009
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy system to install and use I was very pleased with the price and quick delivery of the product. They were also easy to install. I bought 2, so they are installed in tandem. I especially like that the units are enclosed and not open to mosquitos, kids, etc. I keep the tops zip tied. I installed a leaf filter in my gutter downspout to keep the water cleaner and put the barrels up on a one foot raised platform so I'd have better water pressure and the barrels would be level. My only wish is that the plastic was heavier. I don't know how many years they will last, Its similar in density to a regular garbage can. June 22, 2009
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Works fine but I didn't install this as designed I purchased this before doing any research on or having any experience with rain-barrels. It is basically a trash container with a plastic faucet and a downspout diverter. I didn’t install this as designed but the instructions are clear and it shouldn’t be too difficult. After some research, I decided not use the included diverter since I felt the fill design was undersized. It was easy to run the downspout directly into barrel using a short flexible adapter. This also meant I needed to add an overflow outlet on the barrel. For me I could have saved money just buying a trash container to begin with. I recommend anyone considering a rain barrel to do some research since there are multiple cheap DIY designs on the internet. July 17, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by better options out there I just reveiwed barrel to compare to other products on the market and want to share my observations; this is a very cheap product: thin plastic, nor is it a recycled product, does not have precut holes, so you have to drill overflow and spigot hole yourself, the spigot handle breaks easily so it really hurts the hand to turn, and the spigot is too low so you will need raise it to get a watering can underneath it, there is not enough pressure to push water thru a hose. Neither durable nor versatile. This is not superior to a garbage pail under your downspout. April 21, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal I almost didn't get this based on previous reviews of the material strength. Had it set up in less than an hour and I was very surprised that people would complain about the quality. It is light weight and strong and works just as advertised. You can spend $50 -$100 dollars more for a fancy shape or texture, but if you want to be able to collect water and open the top to dip your watering can or bucket. This barrel can't be beat for the money. Two regular rainstorms later and the barrel was completely filled. Already saving on water costs. May 11, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best barrel for the bucks!! I did alot of online shopping and price checking before I decided to just see what HD might offer. Turned out they had the largest and cheapest and at the time they even had free shipping. I bought this big green one and the rock barrel at the same time. Both arrived within a week. Pretty easy to install, just make sure to provide a solid and level base. I used a couple bags of rock and concrete pavers. Also, be sure to install the diverter tube as described in the instructions. It has to be level to work properly. Great product for saving water and rain water is really the best for my orchids. Even the American Orchid Society is converting their irrigation system to use cisterns because of the water savings and they found the rain water is MUCH better for their plants. June 29, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome choice! I looked at a lot of rain barrels before choosing this one. For the price, which included the overflow diverter, by far it was the largest capacity, with the best color choice to blend in with landscaping for under $100. Although most pictures do not show it, you REALLY need to raise it up off the ground (I used 3 cinder blocks), so that you can easily place a watering can underneath without having to mess with a hose. I now use the barrel almost daily to water all of my patio plants without affecting my water bill! May 28, 2009
