Have tried this for two years with several refills. Paper and mud dauber wasps everywhere. Not one wasp in either year. Set it up just like instructions. Maybe Kansas wasps are smarter than others. I might try again next year to catch the queen bees earlier in the season. Hopefully they aren't as smart.

I don't really know what kind of wasps i have but I found that this trap works better for me if I use some kind of sugary soda as bait.also seems to be best if hung near the nest.it's never going to eliminate the wasp problem but has become some what entertaining to watch lol.catches tons of flies also

Was stung by 7 hornets. Put trap out the next day and caught 10. One day later I have 14. They seem attracted to the bottom more so than the top trap. Today I purchased 3 more baits.

Garbage, don't waste your money. Trap itself SEEMS to be well made, but I wouldn't know since I've caught nothing. Bait does not work, and even if it did it only lasts two weeks. They say for a heavy infestation on only 1 acre to place 42 traps. That's $588 pre tax. Then with a bait replacement costing $5 per trap and about 5 minutes to rebait (if they're easily accessible). So if you're ready to invest over $600 on the traps + $210 EVERY TWO WEEKS and spend a minimum of 3-1/2 hours EVERY TWO WEEKS to replace the bait then go for it. I can tell you they won't catch many buggers, they're ugly and oh yeah, an exterminator can FIX your problem for way less cash. I've had 2 traps for 2 weeks where heavy traffic of red paper wasps AND yellow jackets exist and they don't pay any attention to the traps. Haven't caught a single one. Followed directions to the T and I watch them buzz right by. I've even knocked down 3 paper wasp nests within 6 feet of these since I hung them up. Like I said, heavy activity, but show no interest.

Swarms of wasps, hornets, and Yellowjackets all over the patio, and not a single one inside this trap. I set it up exactly per the manufacturer's specifications and placed it a short distance away from our patio. Not too far so that it would still attract the bugs we're having problems with. At this point all the "attractant" has dried up. We won't be spending even more of our money on a useless refill. Save your money and buy the cheaper traps. I wish I had!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Barb WHY Trap is a product that is not effectve
I have purchased and posted this product 4 times and it does not work. The hornet, yellow jackets and bees are not attracted to it. The upper element has not attracted one bug, the lower level lets the bugs escape back through the holes that they entered. I observed them in action. I am returning this product.

I went to the Depot looking for that aerosol wasp killer stuff that would shoot a stream 30 feet. I didn't find any of that but I found this product and thought I'd give it a try. Since I work from home and my office window looks out onto our front porch, I had been watching multiple wasps flying around lately. Then one found its way into our house and freaked out my teenage daughter. After I bravely hunted it down and killed it, off we went to the Depot (incidentally, we also have a Lowe's in our town, and it is closer than the HD, but Lowe's NEVER has what I need!)
I followed the instructions exactly, including the placement of the device. The very next day the Hotel California (good description from another reviewer!) had trapped about 10-12 of the nuisance insects in the lower chamber. Not sure why the upper chamber didn't catch any.
As another reviewer noted, I must also guess that the unsuccessful reviewers didn't follow the explicit instructions regarding placement and timing of placement (early morning or later in the day).
One other note, I started the set-up in the house but the lower chamber attractant has a strong odor so I quickly went out to the garage with it. I would suggest DO NOT OPEN THE CHEMICALS INDOORS!
