I successfully connected it to my Hunter Pro C panel. I connected the receiver's white and yellow wires to the sensor (SEN) terminals and the receiver's red wires to the two 24VAC (AC!/AC2) terminals.

Answer:
Virgil, as long as the X-Core controller has 24v out for the rain sensor to get power, and is compatible with any rain sensor (meaning that it has wiring terminal hookups for the for rain sensor's wires), it should work. If you have further questions, or would like assistance during the setup process, please feel free to contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156. Thanks!

Answer:
Thanks for the answer, But I did end up calling Rainbird because the manual made no reference to a rain sensor. They said mine is too old and it was not possible to attach a sensor - so I bought a new controller and wireless sensor. The whole package was cheaper than I thought so I did it.

5. Connect the (2) red “24V” wires to the 24V terminals of the timer.

RF Rain/Freeze Sensor is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chinese junk I've been through five units which all stopped working after less than 30 days (will not communicate from any distance). Even test button doesn't work after failure. Called Orbit support 3 times and waited more than 30 minutes on two occasions. Got frustrated and hung up the third time after 28 minutes. Horrible support, and unreliable products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy This item is really terrible I am going to return it very soon. The two units would not connect to each other. The instructions were even worse they labeled the pieces differently on the unit from the instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rf Rain/Freeze Sensor Great product if you want an irrigation system not to come on when it rains or temperature dips to freezing. Easy to install and there is real customer support.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Wireless Range Wireless range is horrible. Transmission test worked fine from a few feet away but at about 15 feet it would not communicate anymore and I could still see the control panel. The whole point of this product is wireless communication and if that part doesn't work then this product becomes useless. The wiring part was very simple so that's one positive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy install, only works if rains very hard Purchased original in 2006. Did not want to run a wired sensor. System was easy to install. Had to replace transmitter this year after original quit working--lasted about 7 yrs. biggest complaint was sensor seldom turned sprinkler off unless it downpoured, even if set on most sensitive setting. Other complaint is you can't just get a new transmitter, have to buy whole new system. That said, the product is made well and if you take care of the transmitter it will last. Recommend removing the transmitter and store inside during winter. I left the little set screw off the mount so the transmitter can be easily removed without removing the mount from the house.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wireless reliability shotty at best..... Bought one, took it back as defective and exchanged for another one but had the same issue.... This product claims a 200 foot range. ... My receiver and transmitter were less than 20 feet apart and had an unobstructed view of one another but still failed to receive signal at least half of the time. Stick with a hard wired system. Wireless is unreliable.
