Want to use 1/8 " plywood for a garage ceiling. Would 1" staples be thinking of 4 staples per rafter on 24" centers.
Asked by: garageguy
First of all use gypsum wall board-it will add a bit of fire protection. If there is fire in the garage, that plywood will spread the fire. I know gypsum wall board is a pain to put up, the added safety is worth the trouble.

Won't properly fire 1.5" staples

I just bought this stapler and at first it worked fine with 1.5" staples (6-8 clips). Now it will only fire one at a time...I have to open/close the magazine between EACH shot. I am using Dewalt staples (it said on the box that they fit this model). I have tried different lengths without a's just the 1.5" that act up. Is there something that needs/can be adjusted to fix this? Thanks!

Bought brand new gun and 7/8 DeWalt staples...staple,jam,tap,rack,staple ,jam, tap, rack, angry you've gotta drive a half hour home after purchasing a new gun to find out that it doesn't reccomend dewalt staples...maybe list that on the display????? Anyway... it works like a champ with 25 staples or less, try that, then go buy porter cable staples...I have 4 other ridged guns and love them...hope that helps

Would this gun be a good choice for wood and cement fiber siding or tempered peg board?

Asked by: Red
Maybe for tempered peg board if the load is not too great; I personally would not use it on any concrete board, I would use the recommended screws or ring-shank nails

Customer Reviews

1-1/2 in. 18-Gauge Finish Stapler is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stupid Design. Terrible customer service. It'll star dry firing when it gets to about 10 staples while it has 110 staple capacity, you never really get to use it. It also says it'll stop firing when it's empty, so you'd think you'd never shoot blanks, but get to 10 staples left " bam bam bam" you just dented up the wood and shot nothing. I took it back a day later and given the nth degree by the tool rental guy, who insulted me , then told me I'd be charged a restocking fee. I've never been charged a fee for returning anything because I was unsatisfied with it. I got all my money back, thankfully. They were about to lose a customer for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10k staples and not 1 misfire I puchased this stapler and the Ridgid 6 gallon pancake compressor for home improvement projects. I installed underlayment for a floor i was putting in and I sunk 10,000 1/4" crown staples without a misfire. I could'nt be more pleased with this tool. It took a little fine adjusting to get the depth of the staple correct but once I did everything went smoothly. No regrets with Ridgid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight, easy to use I like the choices available for staple size. The power setting is easy to adjust for driving depth and all the other controls are placed for easy access. The weight makes it easy to use for all day work and the lifetime guarantee is a real plus. While it is priced a little more than other finish staplers, it is still priced to make it a real value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product Occasionally skips a staple - I just pull back the loader and shut it again and it then works well - maybe needs a break-in period? I have almost exclusively Ridgid tools as I find their overall value and quality as exceptional, and I like their lifetime guarantee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy stapler This is my second unit not because the other is broke or worn out but because my wife and I work together and a happy wife is a happy life

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This saves a lot of time. I plugged in the stapler and used it right off. This product really saves tine compared to nailing the old way or screw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I need it to do Stapler works great, sometimes jams when the staples are low.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Good stapler for the DIY or weekend warrior. Depth adjustment works best by regulating your air pressure instead of using the on-board adjuster. The multi-fire mode does not seat staples in deep enough but I have yet to find a stapler that really does. 4 out of 5 because the rubber tips come off easy and HD does not carry them. Nice and light, no missfires and the the dry-fire lockout is nice when working with carpet,.
