1/2 HP Stainless Steel/Cast Iron Pedestal Sump Pump-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Planned obsolescence Read the owners manual before buying. It states to replace the switch assembly every 2 years ( cost $22+ & not carried in stores) and yep, within a month of two years old the switch on ours failed. Seems to me that if they can print the owners manual planning this failure they could plan better by using a better quality switch to begin with. They are selling a product that they know will fail. Don't fall for it, Don't buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it !! Moved into my current home in 2000 and almost right away had to replce the sump pump. Bought some other model that lasted about a year. Then bought the Ridgid 1/2 hp cast pump in March of 2002 and it worked exactly as it should until April of 2013. Our sump has ALWAYS had water in it - since we moved in. This pump has never failed to start when needed and never failed to stop as it should. When looking for reviews I came here and am now headed to buy an exact replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from faulty pump Like some other reviewers, I got a pump whose impeller was faulty. Mine wasn't completely frozen, but at the end of the pumping cycle it came to a halt with a grinding noise. The first time I started it, it was jammed but started after one or two seconds. Also, the float switch didn't work quite as it should. Although the float moved freely, the switch didn't turn off properly without adding a weight to the float. Sump pumps have to be reliable! I returned the pump and got a cheaper Flotec pump which works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice This is the 2nd. time I purchased this same product. Fact is after 10 years the 1st/ pump is still in place and working fine. Bought this one only because of the rain we rec'd recently and the fact that I was nervous about the original running so frequently and for such a long period of time considering the age of the pump. Feel better being overly cautious than sorry.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dont buy Should have read reviews before buying. Switch will click into on position and randomly not turn on. After reading other reviews I see this is common. Could purchse replacement switch but after 5 days I shouldn't have too. Going back. No box no reciept well see what happens.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a piece of junk Why would you make a pump where the parts that don't get wet are made of Stainless and the parts that do get wet are made of cast iron? This pump lasted about two years and then the cast iron base and impeller rusted and froze. For a little more money, they could have made the base and impeller out of stainless. For a little less money, they could have made the base and impeller out of high impact plastic which would have held up better in a wet environment. I just don't understand why a manufacturer would make something so poorly engineered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ridgid pump 20 years old first flo tech lasted 1 year, 2nd one 6 months, ridgid is 20 years old ( would have given it 5 stars, but had to replace switch in 1st year) actually took switch off 6 month old flo tech, been running fine ever since( but I suppose I should think about getting a back up) and it does get used alot! I looked at the serial number it's 006
