Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This is a piece of junk Why would you make a pump where the parts that don't get wet are made of Stainless and the parts that do get wet are made of cast iron? This pump lasted about two years and then the cast iron base and impeller rusted and froze. For a little more money, they could have made the base and impeller out of stainless. For a little less money, they could have made the base and impeller out of high impact plastic which would have held up better in a wet environment. I just don't understand why a manufacturer would make something so poorly engineered. March 1, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not good. After two years the first pump siezed-up. The motor would turn on, but it wouldn't spin. It hummed for a few seconds, then shut off. I brought the pump back to Home Depot, and they replaced it no charge. The second pump started not turning off after a while. The float would drop down and press down on the switch, but it wouldn't shut off. If I wiggled the switch, or operated it continuously, it would turn off. But, the next time it came on , it wouldn't shut off again. The switch is junk, and I need to replace it. September 9, 2008
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by After about two years I installed this pump about two years ago. I am now replacing it. This is not uncommon to my house. I wish someone would make a pump that can pump for years. Lived in this house for 4 years and this is the third pump I have put in. Runs an unbelievable amount. About every 30 seconds during the rainy season. So out of 2 years my pump (A quick calculation) had to run about 200,000 times. May 16, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by faulty pump Like some other reviewers, I got a pump whose impeller was faulty. Mine wasn't completely frozen, but at the end of the pumping cycle it came to a halt with a grinding noise. The first time I started it, it was jammed but started after one or two seconds. Also, the float switch didn't work quite as it should. Although the float moved freely, the switch didn't turn off properly without adding a weight to the float. Sump pumps have to be reliable! I returned the pump and got a cheaper Flotec pump which works perfectly. August 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I loved it !! Moved into my current home in 2000 and almost right away had to replce the sump pump. Bought some other model that lasted about a year. Then bought the Ridgid 1/2 hp cast pump in March of 2002 and it worked exactly as it should until April of 2013. Our sump has ALWAYS had water in it - since we moved in. This pump has never failed to start when needed and never failed to stop as it should. When looking for reviews I came here and am now headed to buy an exact replacement. April 13, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of Junk. Lasted ~ 1 year. After about a year the motor bogged down and wouldn't spin. I took the base apart, to the extent possible (which is insufficient for cleaning), cleaned it, but it turned out that the shaft must be corroded and frozen. After an hour of gross dirty work I had to throw this one away and buy a different brand. March 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Planned obsolescence Read the owners manual before buying. It states to replace the switch assembly every 2 years ( cost $22+ & not carried in stores) and yep, within a month of two years old the switch on ours failed. Seems to me that if they can print the owners manual planning this failure they could plan better by using a better quality switch to begin with. They are selling a product that they know will fail. Don't fall for it, Don't buy it! March 14, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent choice This is the 2nd. time I purchased this same product. Fact is after 10 years the 1st/ pump is still in place and working fine. Bought this one only because of the rain we rec'd recently and the fact that I was nervous about the original running so frequently and for such a long period of time considering the age of the pump. Feel better being overly cautious than sorry. May 21, 2013
