I purchased a similar pump 5 years ago with a lifetime warranty. I've had to replace other pumps after two or three years, but bought the Ridgid for the lifetime warranty. It gets used nearly constantly for 6 months during a year and recently the motor failed. I no longer had my receipt but I called Ridgid and they were fantastic!!! The nearest service center was over 80 miles away, so they had me take it to the local Home Depot to verify the motor failed and they shipped out a replacement pump immediately. I need to give a shout out to Home Depot as well for their help, but Ridgid stood behind their product 100%. Never looked for an 'out' to back away from honoring the lifetime warranty. I would absolutely buy other Ridgid products and recommend to anyone. Great product and company.

Ridgid brand name influenced decision to purchase as well as product was UL listed for safety. Installed very easily. Very quiet. Seemed to be well built. Would recommend this pump over the plastic competitor models.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sumper still have the lifetime warranty unit
Bought one 5yrs ago when they were still lifetime warranty, it's written right on the box. Unit still works, but I don't store it in the pit in the dry season.
Worst thing about these pumps is the rust on the long bolts that hold the motor to the base, they are rusting so bad I doubt they'd even come out to put stainless ones in. Maybe the new pumps are upgraded.
Would buy another one if needed.

Bought it for the ridgid name because I needed a reliable pump. It failed after only 8 months while I was on vacation. Ruined vacation /ruined basement.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by RXscot Something that's made to spend it's life SUBMERGED IN WATER.......
Should NEVER rust! After about 4 years it died.. Not the motor, not the switch but the metal rods that connect the whole thing rusted through and it came apart. I'll be looking elsewhere for the replacement. Unacceptable cheap engineering on this model. Any machine is only as good as its weakest link.

The Rigid SP-500 worked for 3 yrs before the bolts that secured the base to the top eroded. This caused the pump to run continuously, not able to create suction to remove water. Timing of the failure during hurricane Sandy made for anxious days until it could be replaced.

First pump lasted 6 weeks then the motor burned up. Took it back to the store got other one put it In And the float would fall off every ten minutes. Has to zip tie the float on so it would stop coming off. Got another rain a few weeks later got home pit flooded again. Pump not working started to take the lid off noticed water full of oil from the motor. Grabbed the pipe to pull it up from 3' of water only got the cast iron flange. After going shoulder deep in oil water found the motor laying loose in the water, pulled the wire and out came just the top with the float. 3 more trips to find the 3 screws that hold it together. Lucky for me this pump is outside draining water from a yard tile and pit. Would never put this inside my house. Went with a ever built 1 hp now already out performing the rigid.

When I decided to to put in a Watchdog back up sump pump 4 years ago I decided to change out my original sump pump that had been working just short of 20 years(yes, 20 years). I figured I had gotten my money's worth out of it and was due for it to quit at any moment and why not change it out while I'm re-piping for the WatchDog. The first Ridgid lasted just 18 months, but with their warranty they just swapped it out for a new one. No big deal right? Well the next lasted 2 1/2 years and this time it took a little convincing for them to honor their warranty because they didn't do any paperwork on the first exchange. But they did and I appreciate it and their customer service gets an A+ for that.
So the good about the sump pump - it installs easy, is quiet, has the power to do the job, and if you like to change out the pump every few years the warranty is good(note that the the original lifetime warranty is now 3 years).
The bad - a sump pump of this price should not have to be replaced every few years. The first pump just stopped working and the second pump the switch went bad.
If you do buy this sump pump get the WatchDog Back-Up with it - the second time this pump went bad I was on a 10 day vacation and the WatchDog did its job perfectly.
