Can the trigger be depressed slowly to allow fine adjustments of the rpm/speed? Or is it simply a two position low and high trigger?

Answer:
This drill has a true variable trigger. It will barely growl if pressed lightly. It reaches full speed just before the physical limit, so you have the full range of speed available. Unfortunately, it will lock only at full speed.

Yes, the R7122 has a true variable speed switch. The further you depress the trigger the higher the RPM’s increase.

Answer:
Probably, but not for long. Loading any brush-type motor to that extent is a recipe for trouble.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good product.........however, i later found it for several dollars less at 3 different stores...... the drill worked excellent and is a very fine product,,,,,,however your price is a bit higher than 3 other stores I found later..............I was just in a hurry and bought your price..............to compete, you need to lower your prices.................. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool for the price I bought this for mixing tile thin set and custom slurry mixes. Just the right amount of power and easy to use with the variable speed trigger. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brand name, you get what you pay for. The first one locked up after about 4 hours of noisy operation. I suspect something was wrong in the bearings, but I don't know. The second one runs quieter, and so far has passed the 20 hour mark with flying colors. I could do with more torque for some of the bigger drilling jobs, but it's still a big improvement over the off-brand I was using before. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mix Great mix drywall mud I recommend this drill for drywall mud November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by electricians dream I'm an electrician and I bought this drill as a replacement for my 28 year old rigid 850 RPM drill. When I went to Home Depot, I was looking for a physically much larger drill until I figured out they don't make them as large anymore. The lighter R7122 was a pleasure to use drilling out a new duplex to wire it. It is the perfect tool for the job. Now the drawback. The drill is too nice to just lay in my van without protection. Even a flexible tool bag would allow it to get knocked around. I have been searching for a hard carrying case and it seems Ridgid does not make one which is a shame. I'm going to have to improvise now to protect it. April 30, 2014
