Not an exact replacement, but may work with some modifications....and probably not sealed, needs to be out of the water. HD has this for $9. It is designed for pedestal pumps (motor not in the sump pit).

Answer:
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. Based on the information provided here, the primary pump does not have an alarm. It sounds like your back up is activating. The primary pump is likely not pumping and that is causing the back up system to alarm. We hope this helps.

Answer:
Probably. But why would you need to?
This is not an effluent pump. It is designed to remove (pump out) accumulated ground water, not sand, silt, mud or rocks. The pump should be installed above the bottom of the sump pit on a block (a paving stone will work) to prevent 'hard objects' form entering the impeller housing.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy 'do it yoursef project' to save $300+ plumber cost Installed one of these in my home 10 years ago. Needed to replace my daughters sump pump. It was probably ~ 10 years old and the switch got stuck on during an early Spring rain. The cost of a new switch is $20~$30 range, and that would have fixed it. However these pumps have a 5~10 life span depending on your ground water. So I opted to just replace it. The old pump had some contorted check valve / coupling joints (see picture) that needed to be replaced. Relatively easy to replace: Get the old one out of the pit. Remove hose clamps or hacksaw.. Check to see if there is a 'brick / block' in the pit to keep the pump a bit elevated and allow stones a place to collect. Need / buy: Pump, check valve, PVC to pump outlet adapter, 1 1/2" PVC pipe, PVC glue, coupling from new pump to existing plumbing. I used a rubber coupling (~ 6" long) used to join the 1 1/2" PVC ends. You can use a solid (glued PVC) fitting ~$2 or the rubber one I chose ~$5...How accurately can you measure / future replacement? Level it up, align the PVC discharge plumbing, clamp it in place. Overall a bit 'messy' job that will take ~2hours and save you a $300 plumber bill. April 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage Bought this new and installed it myself. The pump fails during heavy rain storms and has left my crawl space a mess. I have to turn the power off and back on for it to start pumping water again. As soon as the weather clears I will have to pull this out and get a different one. Should of went with a better pump from the get go. Do not buy this garbage. July 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It really did the job Purchasing this sump pump was an emergency deal, the sump was already starting to overflow because the previous pump had failed. This pump was well displayed and recommended by a sales associate. The installation was incedibly easy, since I was attaching a flexible hose and placing it in a deep sump full of icy cold water. The capacity of the pump was great enough to empty the sump despide a heavy flow of rainwater into the sump. It ran almost constantly for several days as the water kept pouring in, and never gave any problems at all. Eventually the situation has stablized and it only has to run a few times every hour. The pump is very quiet, and does not make a noise when it stops or when it starts. So my customer is very pleaserd with my choice. April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap parts This pump looks great for the price until you open the box and install it. The float is of concern, because there is a rubber guide for the float rod. This part is of big concern, because it comes loose easily. October 21, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad product The weak part of the product was the outside thin supporting bar. It is easy to broken due to the rust under the water. You will not detect the issue until your basement is flooded. March 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Quiet This pump is so quiet, the only thing you hear is the click of the switch activating. A contractor installed a cheap, plastic pump with a poorly functioning tether switch when I had my basement wall replaced. It was so loud you could hear it on our second floor. This pump is so quiet that even when standing next to it, the only sound you hear is the switch clicking. It is very, very quiet. February 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most versatile unit I used this unit initially to drain my cistern. It took approximately 10 hours to drain. Worked great. I now use it in my basement in my sump pump. Really happy that this was the one I purchased. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well The instructions were clear and straight forward. Went together easily. Helpful clerk at Home Depot knew just what we needed. Put together in 1/2 hour and its working fine. December 8, 2015
