Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lavrentiy Good For Only Hair Blockage
The manual handle kept coming off...I wasn't accidentally pushing the tabs. So I connected a hand drill. I did break through some slightly encrusted blockage. The farther down the drain, though, the cable started to twist *inside the drum*. Then outside cable started to bend/kink. I wasn't at high rpm nor going through IMHO really tough material. Seems that cable was kinking too fast for going through IMHO minor blockage and I wasn't forcing the issue.. This auger might be good to hair blockage and grease only.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by hemingray Does a good job, if you're careful how you use it
This will do what it says, if you use it properly . First - don't use a drill motor with a brake (many cordless drill motors have this) because the spinning of the drum is way too much inertia for the brake. It makes the thing very hard to control. And a variable speed drill motor is a must.
Second, take care that the end (with the spiral screw) isn't allowed to engage anything solid. If it does and the thing is spinnin away, the cable will wrap up and bend itself all to heck making it unusable.
The so-called Max Core hollow core is actually a way of saying "unreinforced". There is no central strand of wire and therefore if the wire gets bent or stretched for any reason, kiss the cable goodbye (see item 2 above).
Having said that, this tool really does do a good job with minor clogs in household drains. The power feature is a real help, just don't be tempted to run it too fast. A decent speed makes the cable whip around in the pipe, assisting with the clearing. 25 feet is plenty long to clear most things and it's worked very well for me several times.
The downfall was with a gutter drain - I had cleared one successfully and the second one was the downfall when the spiral tip grabbed something and before i knew it, the cable was wrapped in a ball and it's now trash. So, lesson learned, keep it to simple household drain use.
I didn't lower the rating because of that problem, I find the build quality to be average and while it's novel to have the engaging rollers and the power capability, I just don't think it's spectacular for the price and the construction is fairly lightweight. If you have the occasional drain blockage, this is a good thing to have around. If I can't find a replacement cable, I'll buy another unit to have at the ready.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by melissa Worked out great and saved me $500!!!
I had a fully clogged kitchen sink and a slow bathroom sink. Was quoted over $500 for both and told the plumber for that I can buy my own power snake. Thought I would have to spend $200 for a tool to handle the job until I found this. It worked great and I will be ready for any future drain issues. I definitely recommend it!

Drain openers wouldn't work, tried my very OLD hand auger and couldn't get past the tight bend in the laundry room and the shower, Bought the power spin and followed the instructions, Used it with my drill and It worked GREAT. It would have rec'd 5 stars, but the only fault I could find is with the removable hand crank ( Remove to attach drill) If I tried to use it as a hand crank system the hand crank comes disconnected too easily. The Auto feed is the cat's meow (That's why I bought this one over the other model that goes on a drill) It made it SOOO EASY

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by owlman best snake so far
I have a frustrating plumbing arrangement in my basement that after the trap it takes a very sharp 90 bend. No snake except for an old drill powered unit could make the bend. This one got the clog no problem. I'll be getting rid of the old one soon. Only down side, the trigger isn't very robust and doesn't like staying engaged.

...Although it did clean the drain, and at way less cost than calling the plumber. Tried to follow instructions to retrieve the snake....heard something plastic snap. The counterclockwise rotation then balled up the snake within the drain pipe, rather than retrieve it. In pulling manually. At this point the snake was jammed in a 1 1//2 inch drain securely. didn't think I'd be able to yank it out, but I did....nice mess ensued...of course now it's garbage, HD will not accept it for return for health reasons as it's been used.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by unclogged It worked!
We had a stubborn shower drain clog. First tried Drano Max Gel with snake, followed by a second application of regular Drano, with no luck. Used two kinds of plungers and really worked at it, but still clogged. Finally bought this auger. Initially we were skeptical as the spinning mechanism didn't seem to work that well (it felt really clunky), and we weren't sure if it was going around the bend in the pipes. With patience, we were rewarded with two large wads of hair we pulled out, and the drain was finally unclogged. We didn't need to use the power drill.
Overall, quite pleased at the effectiveness of this tool, as it saved us the cost of calling a plumber, which would've been the next step if this didn't work. Our only worry is it's durability, but we haven't run into any problems yet with our first use!
