Answer:
RIDGID does not rate their power tools in horse power due to an industry wide dispute on how that is properly to be determined. The standard formula used for many years by most manufacturers for determining horsepower for an electrical power tool was: volts X amp divided by 746 = HP
The RIDGID R4090 wet tile saw uses 120V, 15Amp motor.

Yes, as with most 10 inch saws it just makes it. If you have brick of the wavy design, you may need to flip it over.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not a saw for the price Let me first tell you I have never actually cut a tile with this saw, I did own it. For about an hour. I am a contractor who primarily does tile work and after reading the mixed reviews I decided to pull the trigger and purchase this for about 850 after tax. I got to the job and opened it and was immediately discouraged about how much needed to be put together. Luckily I pulled out the tray and rails. This is what made me decide to take it back. As I pushed the tray across the rails I could feel the tray going up and down. And as I pulled the tray back it dropped a good bit as the rollers came off the rails. I knew then this was not the saw for me. If the table is moving that means the blade is... and that means cuts that aren't straight. Like I said I never really gave this saw a chance but the movement in the table was enough for me to take it back. I feel for the price they should definitely address this issue because I was really excited to have the cut capacity this saw had. Needless to say for you guys serious about getting a good saw, I purchased the dewalt d24000. That thing is a Cadillac. July 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great saw with some issues The variable speed, blade positioning and miter features of this saw are pure genius. This saw, however, has the same problem as the last. The blade does not get wet enough which means the blade does not stay cool enough leading to ruined blades. I successfully redesigned the water supply on the last one but the new design of this one has limited my options. The diverter valve broke the first time I tried to use it and am still waiting for a reply from Ridgid for a replacement. I firmly believe that once these issues are resolved I will have a top notch saw. Especially with all the large format tile we are installing these days May 14, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A few nice features but engineering of them was not fully thought out. Tile saw arrived in it's original box completly torn appart, so this was a sign of things to come. Saw rails were miss aligned so I had to straighten them for the deck to run straight. Lazer level would never proprerly work. Incomplete design on the multi position motor head. The motor/blade should slide along the rail and lock into 3 positions but it cumbersome when changing postions and very difficult to lock into position without the lack of an indicator for the handle/screw to tighten. Some good features such as expandable deck, water separation system, quick set adjustable motor pin. Ridgid, keep working your close November 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT TILE SAW !! I HAVE HAD THIS SAW FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS NOW AND I AM REALLY IMPRESSED WITH IT. IT HAS PLENTY OF POWER, AND ALL THE ROOM YOU NEED TO CUT LARGE TILE. I DON'T KNOW WHY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THERE SAWS, BUT MY SAW IS THE BEST TILE SAW I HAVE EVER USED ! I HAVE BEEN LAYING TILE FOR 27 YEARS AND HAVE USED ALOT OF TILE SAWS (SOME COSTING MORE THAN $2,000.00) AND I WOULD PICK THIS SAW OVER ALL OF THEM ! THIS SAW CUTS PERFECTLY SQUARE OUT OF THE BOX AND THE LASER IS RIGHT ON. ONLY THING I WOULD IMPROVE IS THE WATER FLOW TO THE BLADE, IT IS ENOUGH FLOW BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO BE ABLE TO AIM THE WATER AT THE BLADE. I HAVE RETIRED MY OTHER TILE SAWS ! THANKS RIDGID FOR MAKING A GREAT SAW !!!!! April 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply the best.....not like all the rest! I have been in the tile business for 27 years. I have used just about every wet saw they have ever made. During all that time I had alot of complaints about all of them. I have spent the last 27 years saying to myself "why cant they just invent a wet saw that does this and doesnt have this stupid engineering flaw...." Now it appears that Rigid was reading my mind. This saw does everything I thought was a "no brainer" that all the other saws lacked. It appears that Rigid has done what all other tile saw makers just had never figured out.....get a few old tile guys like me to give them their input! Finally finally finally!!! If I could give this saw more than 5 Stars I would....but then again its in a class by itself. April 22, 2010
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Commercial I'm a General Contractor of 15+ years, specializing in tile, bought this saw 3 years ago to replace one of my other aging saws. It's been my main saw for the last 3 years, but now it's time for a new one, and it won't be a Ridgid. Worked great at first. Plastic valve for water diverter broke within a week. Water pressure for so-called hose to wash down tray is worthless. Pump works great for the blade, but that's it. The overall concept of the water supply under the tray is great (as opposed to most designs where water is IN tray under the table). Motor is pretty good. Tile accomodation is better than most, but arm for motor gets in the way on larger tiles. Beveling is a hassle, as the arm sticks and unseats out of true over time, horribly. Table comes out of square with the blade in short order. Table rails and wheels on table are not the greatest, so the table "bumps" at points along its travel on the slide (not totally level). Portion of table is "rubber" and bleeds carbon after a while and does NOT stay level over time, which causes larger tiles not to be flat on table and thus can crack as blade cuts it toward end of cut. The stand is great, but shaky. Portability is better than most. I load/unload easily by myself in pickup truck. Splash guards are plastic that can succumb easily to working in cold temps. Table lock broke within a year. Stand rusts rather easily. Plastic handles broke off pretty quick. Laser? I forgot it was even there. Worthless. The LED table light is nice. Overall, the saw has taken a beating and produced some great results in the three years I've worked it, but in hindsight, I probably would've been better off with a different saw. I'm getting ready to by a Lackmond to replace this one. January 20, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by saw replacement I bought this saw to replace a Tile Master that had ben fixed to many times after 12 years of hard use. While unpacking, we noticed the diverter valve was broken. I don't understand why it was the only thing attached to the frame and was very vulnerable to damage. It took 2 weeks to get a new one and had to rig it to work. The saw produces an ok cut, I do really like the expanded material surface and the adjustability of the motor head. All in all, it is an ok saw but kinda wished i spent a few more bucks and went back with what I like. January 10, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Versa"tile" Not quite excellent, but well-suited for the contractor. Cons: instructions not great and no parts list included. My unit arrived with a bad diverter valve and a damaged table locking pin. Water trays are pretty flimsy. Water pump and related hoses not very robust or well designed. Pros: Good service when I reported problems. Unit went together well after some head scratching. Variable speed and laser are nice features. Motor has replaceable brushes and plenty of power. Hinged blade cover nice feature. Quick set up and great mobility. May 3, 2011
