Can I use this extension cord for my ac.

Asked by: Cinny
I think it is heavy enough. I would check with the AC dealer. I run all sorts of power tools with it

If the light goes out when I plug in an appliance, does that mean the appliance is miswired?

In other words, does the hot conductor go to the common of the appliance, and vice versa.
Asked by: Anonymous
more than likely yes, does the appliance pop the circuit breaker?

whats the difference between a 14/3 and a 12/3 extention cord

Asked by: Anonymous
14 and 12 is the gauge of the wire. The smaller the number the greater the current. The 3 I believe means the cord is 3 wire, power, neutral and ground.

Customer Reviews

100 ft. 14/3 Heavy-Duty Extension Cord is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty? I've installed this cord on a block heater system. The cord has no inner strain relief so the conductors bear all the stresses. If you really look at the plug (the plug is clear plastic) you'll see an atypical contact design which will not apply pressure to the connection. For the price I was hoping for more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A better female end is needed I have used two of these cords for about two years now. They are rugged, but the female end needed replacement of both cords. The socket is just a fork connector, with no way of moving to accomidate different size plugs. After a while, they don't make good contact unless the plug prongs are thicker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only cord that doesn't break to bits at -35 F I went through cord after cord at our cold storage until we found cord type. We have rooms that vary in temp from -6 to -40 Farenheight. When working the blast freezers overhauling our Racking our cords would get hard and break not just the sheathing but the conductors as well. The Ridgid cords did not so now I have them from 10gauge up. I have also replaced the factory cord of many of my tools with the Ridgid wire as well.
