The person who has this for 10 years should know if it can go larger than 1 1/4 (1.125) from experience. Now the real answer is measure the OD of the tubing never assume that what is stamped on tubing is OD. It can be ID or fitting size or just a nominal size or even something else. And the wrench on the fitting, the size of it, is even different from all the previous. Capacity should also include the minimum diameter of tubing that it will cut perfectly orthogonal. By "capacity" I assumed that you meant the largest size tubing that will fit in the cutter and be cut correctly. Someone needs to experiment but it will be difficult to find incrementally larger sizes of tubing so NO answer can be exact. Comprende? Read Less

Answer:
the outside diameter of the pipe you are cutting in 1/4" to 1 1/8" . that is not the same as the sizes stamped on the pipe. as 1/2" copper pipe can be 5/8" outside diameter and pvc pipe 1/2" can be closer to 3/4" outside diameter.

Always measure the OD of tubing and do not trust the dimension stamped on the tubing. Trying to know OD of tubing that is called by its ID or even fitting size is confusing without experience. We had a water leak and had to go to the nearest outlet to get a cutter and that was Home Depot. Because of the nature of the physical logistics of the pipe, this particular cutter fit our needs.
