Answer:
Very good question. Ridgid refuses to honor their warranty on batteries, based on my experience. Hopefully enough buyers will complain that Ridgid will do something for all of us who can't get warranty service.

Answer:
The batteries that come with the tool have a lifetime warranty but need to have been registered. If batteries are purchased seperate they have a 3 year service agreement from the date of purchase.

When I went to buy the extra battery it didn't say anywhere that buying just a battery didn't come with the lifetime warranty instead you get a 3 year limited warranty. Actually on the home depot web page it shows a picture of the battery, then the next picture is one of the Ridgid Lifetime Service Agreement logo. I am really considering sending it back because if I would have known that I would not of bought just the battery. I like ridged tools and have a few, but if you don't get the lifetime warranty it should be right there in the Description or specifications.

Answer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. I believe it would be best to reach out to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer is RIDGID and their customer service department can be reached at 1-800-4-RIDGID.

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BATTERY FIX!!! It is a common problem for these batteries to just stop working (both lights on the charger indicating a defective battery). This happened to one of my two and I couldn't send it in for warranty because I didn't fill out the warranty papers (company bought the tools and its easier to buy new than warranty) I popped the top off the battery and found that the 0 ohm resistor had fried, I just soldered in a piece of wire as a jumper and BOOM the battery charges again. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Complete garbage I love Ridgid tools. And I have had great experience with the 18volt Lithium-Ion batteries. But these little 12v batteries do not work at all. I am tired of sending them in to be replaced. They are too small to start with and make the tools under powered. And they fail quickly. D.O.A. The larger capacity version of this battery DOES seem to have enough power and seems to hold up. In my opinion Ridgid should discontinue this little battery, substitute the larger battery, and anyone going to the trouble to send in a dead little version should be rewarded with a larger capacity replacement. I think the quality brand of Ridgid depends on action like this. June 13, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Reliability Problems I bought into the Ridgid 12 volt system around 2009. I have had problems with failures from minimal use and it's a shame as I really like the 12 Volt drill, but the batteries fail before and after the 3 year warranty. RIDGID needs to DEMAND better quality out of China!! At $50, these should last much longer. I have 2 drills and a flashlight with 5 batteries. I will say that their warranty is at least decent although getting over the counter exchange is hit or miss. October 5, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Small 12v drill Like other folks here I bought my 12v Rigid drill with these smallish batteries and within only a few months they were totally shot- would not charge at all. What's sad is that even if the drill itself had any quality or value the batteries are so lousy it makes the drill useless!! So, I guess I could tell friends and readers here that the drill is a nice color or that it makes a nice paper weight but otherwise totally useless! I have a Makita drill that is over 20 years ond still works! What's up Rigid???? January 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product for the price This battery will run twice as long as the standard 12volt Hyper Lithium-Ion battery that shipped with my RIDGID drill. It's a little more expensive but worth it for the extra time between charges. I purchased a standard 12v battery at the same to have a backup. This is was the third replacement battery and they seem to last about 3 years before they die. It's been a great drill however, and it's much cheaper to replace a battery from time to time than a drill. January 10, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of garbage Less than 5 hours on this battery and it already failed. The charger says it's fine and will charge for a few minutes and indicate full charge but will only last a few seconds before it dies. I own many Rigid tools but this is one I wish I would have never bought. August 19, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad battery right out of the box I bought a 12-volt rigid drill set today. It came with two batteries and one charger. One battery works fine (with fairly short life before needing charging) the other battery simply does not work out of the box. I see now that a replacement will be very expensive. HD will need to improve the quality control of these batteries or they will be getting a lot of returns and their rigid brand will begin to see its good reputation get tarnished. December 1, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by only lasts 4-8 months I have had 4 these batteries for 2 years, and I have already had to send them all in for replacement three times. The process is aggravating because in order to re register the batteries you have to spend about a half hour on the phone to supply them with the new serial numbers. Not something I would expect from a "professional grade" tool. These make the whole tool system too unreliable to make a living with. October 2, 2013
