I bought the combo to replace an aging full-size drill. I cannot be happier. The impact driver is amazing. I've used the combo for a few project so far and the size of the drivers are perfect. they feel solid but not over-heavy and have had no problems drilling into hard woods with a 1" spade-bit, so I think they'll meet all of my needs. I've been able to use them both quite rigorously without needing frequent charges which was one of my concerns with a 12v set - a big plus. I got them on sale for about $50 less than list which I know feel was a steal as I would be quite happy paying full price. I plan to pick up more devices that use the same 12v batteries soon.

Read, and read some more. Thought about it for a long time and compared it to other 12V tool manufacturers. I have a lot of Ridgid power tools and still held out buying this one. I've got a 24V, and 18V set. For everyday things around the house, it is so much easier to use the 12v. Keep the 12v set in the house, and other tools in the garage. Has lots of power, solid design, comfortable grip and best battery replacement program. Heavy duty feel and performance, but light weight. Great price, but with the lifetime warranty its the best deal. Can't beat that. Over the life of the tool, the tool pays for itself with the lifetime warranty and free battery exchange/replacement program. Buy IT!

The new 12 volt tools are a great new way for battery powered tools in my way of doing things.Much lighter and better sized for everday use.I don't use them everday or do this type of work for a living anymore but when I need a tool to do a job I expect it to preform as designed.I have used about all the major brands of tools over the years and Ridgid seems to be as good or better than any of them and the warrenty is impossiable to beat.I own several diffrent Ridgid tools and they have all worked as dessigened so far.If you are in need of a new power tool and are unsure about the brand give Ridgid a try you won't be disapointed. At the worst you will have a warrenty for as long as you need it.

The tools themselves have the heft of quality tools. They perform as well as or even better than expected. Only wish they were more than 12 volt. I was a little concerned when I tried charging the batteries for the first time. Both would read "Defective" until after several attempts finally got them charging. On-Line registration process was frustrating at times, gathering all of the required numbers, THEN, also having to mail in paperwork for the Lifetime warrantee. I wonder if this drawn out process is their way of discouraging people from taking advantage of the Lifetime Warrantee.

I already own the Jobmax system and like it, my main complaints are with the picky switches regularly they won't start the tool, regardless of the head that is on the handle, I have two handles and both do it. I also already had the drill but always desired the Pistol grip impact, they only had the right angle so I purchased this but had to get it with the driver I already had, oh well. The LED needs to be positioned better it's blocked by the head in some applications, and I wish it remained on after the switch is let off like Makita. The unit has good power however I wish the drill driver had two speeds or spun faster, I use the impact for driving so drilling is all I will use the drill for and I want higher RPMs.

I bought one of these kits for homeowner use. The "lifetime warranty" sold me, but when you register the warranty on line they make you send in the bar code from the packaging. I had already thrown that away.
After maybe 10 recharges one of the batteries wouldn't run the drill for more than a few seconds before quitting. OK, I'll just use the other battery. After maybe another 10 charges of it, the charger quit.
OK, it's my own fault for not reading the fine print, but tools shouldn't just die like this under light use. I've had better luck with Harbor Freight tools.

I really like this drill. I used if for House wall construction. It works great and is compact. I ordered the drill/compact set to get a second drill and try the impact. The impact is very similarly configured to the drill. Should be a good pair. I managed to fit them both in my original Rigid bag along with a complete set of hex tips, drills, and now 1/4 inch drive sockets. I bought a few sockets to complete the set up to 9/16. That should cover most houshold chores. I hear that guys are driving the big screws with the impact. I will give that a try.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sawdust1 Capable tools in a small package
I bought these because I have arthritis in my hands and it hurts to grip and use my big Ni Cad drill. I do woodworking and for what I do these work very well. They are very capable tools. I especially like the impactor tool. Lots of power but very control-able. I was disappointed in the drill however. It is not like the drill sold in the store. This one does not have a two speed gearbox and the top speed is only 545 RPM. Again for what I use this for it too is very cabaple. These tools should not be your primary usage tools, they are more for lighter duty stuff, you still need a heavier duty drill which I have so it's no big deal. What is more important to me is the light weight, yet sufficient power in a very compact package. And you can't beat the warranty either
