Duty Cycle

What is the duty cycle of this unit? I need to leave it on for hours at a time to clean up my CNC table as it cuts.
Asked by: Anonymous
There isn't a duty cycle rating that I'm aware of but the Ridgid vacs run at a lower rpm than others and should run several hours with no problems. You may need to replace motor brushes occasionally.

I find the paper filter cartridge clogs quickly when vacuuming up MDF dust. Is there a pre-filter available?

Asked by: Anonymous
I give mine a thump on the top when I turn it off to knock the dust from the filter. I have also used a piece of old panty hose as a prefilter.

Does the blower acc. work well enough to be used for general purposes?if so what is the CFM Amperage?

Asked by: Jolt
It does work as a blower for "regular" applications like dry leaves, dust, lite dirt, etc...

12 gal. 5.0-Peak HP Wet Dry Vac with Detachable Blower is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 533.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible performance when you need it I'm truly impressed with the performance of Ridgid's 12gal, 5hp wet/dry vac. One week after purchasing the vacuum, I had the opportunity to test its capabilities when my basement flooded during a heavy storm. As you can see in the photo, the vac performed wonderfully and quickly removed water from our basement saving our carpet and padding. The 12-gallon drum meant I didn't have to repeatedly empty the vac and could concentrate on the task at hand. Assembling the vacuum was quick and easy, and I like the storage features Ridgid included for the accessories. The built-in drain is another great feature that makes emptying the vac a cinch – again, a wonderful feature when you find yourself trying to quickly save a flooding basement. The car nozzle also worked great for me and easily fit under the seats of both my SUV and my wife's sedan. I really couldn't be happier with this product and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compact, powerful wet/dry vac.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good vac This is a good vacuum with good power, and the blower function works great. My main disappointment is discovering that I cannot use a dust bag with this vacuum. I wish I had read the question and answer section first and discovered this before buying. I'm keeping it because I like the blower function, but if you want one you can use a dust bag with, this one will not work for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to our tool box We've used this for several projects around the house and can't believe how effective it is. The other day, we used it to pull the leaves out of the gutters (long hose attachment with plenty of reach), and blew the rest of the leaves out of the flower bed. The hose easily connects to the exhaust to work as a blower. There were a ton of leaves and this was only about 1/4 full when we emptied it. It's handled everything we've thrown at it, wet and dry...easy to use and easy to clean. The auto detailing attachment kit is perfect also. Best investment we've made in quite a while.

My negative review is solely on the fact that I purchased this product to later discover it doesn't take a dry filter bag. The bizarre thing is that the exact same vac without the blower that costs less money (#WD1270) will take a filter bag - an absolutely critical accessory to dry vac'ing dust. The mistake is two part: 1) Home depot displays all kinds of imagery about the VF3502 filter fitting vacs like this on the product page, and 2) This vac's owner's manual is shared with the 16** series, which literally has nothing in it regarding filter bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great work vac I am a general contractor for 30 years and this is my 3rd rigid vac. The other 2 are still going strong. I needed A shop vac that can use an internal bag. We do a lot of Drywall sanding, And the older models don't have the option to use a bag. So far this one is fine with generous power. I feel that the plastic tub is not as strong as the older models. Time will tell. I have put my other rigid vacs through torture, and they don't quit. My choice for a commercial shop vac.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Durability yet to be established. The only reason I bought this brand is because of the Lifetime warranty. If the vacuum is anything like the one I had before and it looks like the same model Ridged, I don't put out to much hope that it will last more than a few years. The quality in the past has been dismal at best. It has the same cheap flexible hose that gets so stiff when the temps drop below 40 degrees. The hose moves the vacuum everywhere as you move the wand around due to its lack of flexibility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best suction for the price, good quality compared to Shop Vac brand. After having a 12 gallon Ridgid for almost 10 years I purchased a Shop Vac brand. I kept it for 2 days. The Ridgid is superior by far to its competitor; better design, better wheel placement, and thicker base material. Cons: wheel legs fall off a little easier than I would like. Switch wears out, hose does not feature a larger end to allow additional hose length to be easily attached (requires specialty coupling.) But overall does a fantastic job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment I've always used Shop Vac , when my last one died, I decided to try Rigid... Big mistake. I purchased it in April of 2015 and it stopped working December of 2015. With light use. I do not recommend . With the cost of these vacuums, you would think they would last longer. The on/off switch I think is the cause.. But the store I bought the vac from doesn't carry replacement parts... I'm just disappointed
