Duty Cycle

What is the duty cycle of this unit? I need to leave it on for hours at a time to clean up my CNC table as it cuts.
Asked by: Anonymous
There isn't a duty cycle rating that I'm aware of but the Ridgid vacs run at a lower rpm than others and should run several hours with no problems. You may need to replace motor brushes occasionally.

I find the paper filter cartridge clogs quickly when vacuuming up MDF dust. Is there a pre-filter available?

Asked by: Anonymous
I give mine a thump on the top when I turn it off to knock the dust from the filter. I have also used a piece of old panty hose as a prefilter.

It does work as a blower for "regular" applications like dry leaves, dust, lite dirt, etc...

My negative review is solely on the fact that I purchased this product to later discover it doesn't take a dry filter bag. The bizarre thing is that the exact same vac without the blower that costs less money (#WD1270) will take a filter bag - an absolutely critical accessory to dry vac'ing dust. The mistake is two part: 1) Home depot displays all kinds of imagery about the VF3502 filter fitting vacs like this on the product page, and 2) This vac's owner's manual is shared with the 16** series, which literally has nothing in it regarding filter bags.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good vac This is a good vacuum with good power, and the blower function works great. My main disappointment is discovering that I cannot use a dust bag with this vacuum. I wish I had read the question and answer section first and discovered this before buying. I'm keeping it because I like the blower function, but if you want one you can use a dust bag with, this one will not work for that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I liked the included blower option for light jobs like getting leaves and dirt out out the garage... I liked the included blower option for light jobs like getting leaves and dirt out out the garage, but this model wasn't available at the stores by me so I ordered it online. Shipping and delivery was free and very prompt, however, I just unpacked the box and there are some issues so I am taking it back to the local store. 1. I quickly figured out that is does NOT allow you to use a dry debris bag. I saw the vac bags listed as an accessory when ordering online so I didn't think twice and added them on. Nope! There is no way to use one and I imagine that would quickly clog up the works and likely break the machine in no time, not mention the mess of dumping it out. 2. The assembly instructions say to install (2) of the castors, not the 4 it comes with. Seems weird, but I figured maybe that is so it doesn't roll away since they don't lock? Otherwise it looks like it would have been great for my small household needs, but the inability to use a vacuum bag is a deal breaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! This thing is beast! I had recently bought a new house and had projects to do and the Rigid is one of the best purchases I've made; I mean let's face it, it's no 3 wolves howling at the moon t-shirt, but it's right up there! I use it all time on small projects, or even to vacuum the tile floors and or car. I recently used it when cutting out a hole in the ceiling to install a fan, the hose and extender attachments had no problem reaching a vaulted ceiling. It picks up everything! I haven't seen the cat in over a week now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this vacuum. This is a great vacuum with a lot of power. It's a replacement for one I had for around ten years. That one's motor died & since the manual said life time replacement, I called in, sent pictures and info & wow! Ridgid sent me this new one. I really appreciate this company and would definitely recommend their vacuums.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a unitasker! Needed a leaf blower, didn't have a shop vac; got both in one unit. 5hp blower with a 20 foot cord does a great job on leaves, & the shop vac has good suction and lightweight portability. Would have been nice if it had come with a tool rack attached, but I can add one. Overall another solid product from Ridgid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shop vac, great customer service This is my 4th Ridgid shopvac, the older models are still good, I simply needed more for other areas. I did have one fail last month (this 12gal model), contact and support from Ridgid help desk was great and they replaced the unit promptly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Vacuum with sturdy parts Vacuum is really solid and hoses and attachments are very sturdy. Lots of sucking and blowing power. It is noisy but adding the diffuser (sold separately) really cut down on the noise and amount of exhaust air being blown around.
