When vacuuming does it blow air out the back

When vacuuming, does this blow air out the back? If so, is there a part I can buy like an air diffuser or muffler, not sure what to call it. I just don't want dust being blown all over Also, is there another smaller vac (like a 4 gal) but has the same high horse power (6). I"m assuming that is the suction

Yes it blows out the back. use a good filter bag, no dust

I am in dog rescue and currently have nine dogs in my house, my fellow rescue folks are telling me to get a shop vac because the suction is so good

and their isn't a vacuum cleaner out there that really does the job of collecting all the hair and dander. Any thoughts on using a shop vac for this purpose ?? I try to keep a really clean house but vacuum cleaners, pet dyson and shark just aren't doing a good job.
Asked by: claudia
Yes and using a filter bag inside would make cleanup a breeze. You wouldn't have to touch the hair once it's been vacuumed up. Just pull the full bag, toss it and put a new one in. This model has great suction and plenty of attachments for the price. If I was in the market for one for my house, this would be the one.

Is this vacuum extremely loud with the 1-1/4" hose attached?

One of the reviewers complained that this vacuum is extremely loud when he uses it with the 1-1/4" hose. How much louder is it compared to the 2-1/2" hose? How many decibels for each hose?
Asked by: wdwkr
I haven't noticed a considerable difference between with and without the 1-1/4". Granted, I was not listening specifically for it, but if there had been a considerable difference - such as high pitched screaming at the attachment end from high speed air suction or increase in motor noise as if the hose were clogged - I would have taken notice, I'm sure. I can't recall any such difference in the month of heavy use I've given it.

on the wd1451, do the hose, nozzle, and wands lock together?

Asked by: Anonymous
There is some locking at the hose to vac location, not really at the wand location. Just connect and turn clockwise when putting together, and they will stay together.

14 gal. 6.0-Peak HP Wet Dry Vac with Auto Detail Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 843.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs many more features Purchased this to be used wet in my detail bay. Not yet completed. The dry portion has plenty of power but I wish you would have options for full power or half power as it is very challenging to pick up on a large rubber mat while using the accessories. The unit becomes very difficult to maneuver on a ergo mat. Way to much suction for a large rubber 4 x 8 ergo mat. On the floor another story. its pretty darn good.We will see in about two weeks once I get a water reclamation mat. Also if you had a telescoping hose that would allow one to go from the present dia to lets say 1" or 1.5 with the proper smaller accessories for cleaning your vehicle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful yet Quiet This is exactly what I was looking for: lots of suction yet quiet motor. It comes with lots of accessories which will normally cost 30 or 40 dollars (although charging so much for a piece of plastic is really not fair). It is really well made, looks nice too. Sturdy, wont trip over. However, the filter will clog quickly lowering the sucking power. There is a solution though. I highly recommend using dust separator if you are using your vac for woodworking workshop. When it was brand new I used it once for carpets in my house but it wanted to remove the carpet together with a dust from my floor. It is really the most powerful vac I tried.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from False Start but Good Recovery I bought this vacuum because a similar one I had bought a couple (?) years ago wasn't capable of using the vacuum bag designed to pick up drywall dust and the like and I had an entire basement floor covered in the stuff that I needed to get up. I assembled it, plugged it in, hit the ON switch and nothing! Bummer. Back to the hardware store to return it and get the only other vacuum of the same model and price. I must say, this one made up for the disappointment of the previous one and the first one not capable of doing the same job. It swept the floor perfectly without spewing dust all over the place and without breaking my ear drums. I was pretty impressed with it overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I expected This thing is awesome. It is powerful and does the job. I love the onboard attachment center. My first job with this shop vac was used as a dust collection system. I ran it constantly for 2 hrs with the hose up against my wood CNC. There was hardly a spec of sawdust anywhere. I know this product isn't meant to run constantly like that but it performed perfectly. I don't need to push it like that again but was happy to know it is a RIDGID. I love this brand and rely on the brand for many other tools I own. My table saw, my cordless impact and drill set, and my miter saw. I will stick with RIDGID.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shop vac for a woodworker This shop vac was the best one for me to use in my shop. I have been able to hook this directly up to my 10" dewalt rolling table saw as a dust collection system along with my rigid 12" sliding miter saw without any other attachments. Most reviews knock rigid for not having the correct size hose to hook up directly to dust ports. The only tool so far that I've experienced needing a attachment was my dewalt planner. This vac is quiet and very powerful. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the wheels on the vacuum, they seem to get stuck a lot.

I just throw in the ear buds, slide the track to the right tune and go to work.. it sucks up everything, making any mess mo' cleana.. I thought maybe going with a bigger vac might of been mo' beta, but then I realized that the Bigga the vac the mo heavier the vac... glad I'm rollin with the 14 gal style... Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good So far, so good. I just purchased this and am still in the process of cleaning my shop with it. I'll hook it to my dust collection in the coming days. I'm replacing a 5 year-old ShopVac 16 Gal/6.5 HP that just groaned one day and then wouldn't come on again. That one was big and bulky and this 14 Gal/6.0 HP is a little smaller - hoping the size will make some difference. It seems powerful enough and I look forward to using this often and for many years. I'm real curious what the grooves on top of the motor are for though. Anyone with any ideas?
