Product Overview

The RIDGID 14 gallon 2-stage industrial wet dry vac has certified HEPA filtration and meets the EPA’s definition of a HEPA vacuum under RRP rule for lead paint renovations. It also offers large capacity, rugged construction, and excellent mobility for pro, contractor, industrial and commercial use. The dual blower wheel is driven by an 11.5 amp motor to deliver the heavy duty, high-lift suction needed to efficiently handle the toughest wet or dry worksite or shop clean-up tasks. The 10 ft. premium locking pro-hose won’t pull loose during use and is 4 times more durable than a standard hose. The vac's pro hose won't crimp providing optimum airflow. This unit also features a cord wrap, a heavy duty 2-piece drum construction, accessory storage, and patented Scroll Noise Reduction Technology for quiet operation. Replacement Filter HF1000 sold separately.

  • Powerful 11.5 Amp, 2-stage motor produces 80 in. of water lift

Can the product be used as a "general" shop vac as well?

I'm currently remodeling and expect plaster dust and possible lead paint flakes if I decide to take on my windows. Once this work is complete, however, I do have use for a "general" shop vac of around the house duties. Can this vacuum be used to pick up standard debris, i.e., wood shavings, sand, dirt, occasional fruity pebbles and so on? And when used for these general duties, is it advisable to remove the HEPA filter as it's probably not needed? Much obliged.
Asked by: Mateo
Home Depot has many general purpose shop vacs that will meet your needs at half what this vacuum costs. Keep in mind that the HEPA filter costs more that $100 and is for hazardous dusts.

i see this has a "pre filter" and a HEPA filter... does it utilize a bag filter as well?

I noticed in the accessories part of this it does list a bag filter as an option just making sure this does work with this exact one and would like to know if one is included... thanks! note it doesn't state in the product description either way
Asked by: Kerazyguy
The bag is technically optional but is required for actual HEPA usage. With the bag in, you cannot use it to suck up wet debris. I believe mine came with a single included bag out of the box.

14 gal. HEPA Wet Dry Vac is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ridged 14 gal HEPA Wet Dry Vac Worked great and very good suction but hard to get a full bag out of unit because of the wide base with narrow opening.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre product I did a whole-house renovation with this vacuum. It was a bit cheaper than other brands but I wish I spent the extra money. Two major complaints-- first, a design flaw that causes the bag to catch on bolts and tear open as you lift it out (full of toxic stuff). Even being very mindful and cautious could not prevent the bag from ripping some of the time. Second, it's just not that powerful with the large hose it comes with it. I ended up using a smaller diameter hose and that worked better. Oh, and I guess I have a third complaint-- when you lift up the unit by it's main handle on top, the rubber clamps that keep it together flex, exposing the inner chamber. That can't be a good characteristic in a HEPA vac. I'm keeping it because I have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sand in Place Wood Flooring Contractor Owner of Vause Custom Floors in SE Washington state, 20+ years exp in sand in place wood flooring & wood flooring refinish work. We have previously used a major wood floor sanding equipment brands vacuum compatible with our sanders for a dust containment process, other leading brands vacuum costs over 3x the amount of the RIDGID HEPA filtration 14 gal price. Was skeptical of performance capabilities compared to leading wood flooring equip brands product, pleasantly surprised!! Not only comparable, the RIDGID vacuum has been amazing!! I can legitimately use the RIDGID vac for all phases of sanding process, hooks directly to my edger for dust containment, use for vacuuming entire floor prior to full trowell puttying floors, connected to edger for fine sanding, vacuum entire floor for final vac prior to 1st coating or staining, connected to buffer during all buffing phases, and most importantly, continues to work perfectly for the actual final vac prior to applying final coat, leaving behind minimal dust or debris. Only negative aspect I've encountered is the dust collection bag, the paper disposable bags work fine, just become very costly using 3-5 bags/job, to overcome this issue, i have researched and purchased several re-usable, easy to dump out and re-use, felt lined vacuum bags. Please, make re-usable felt lined, dumpable vacuum bags. Thank you RIDGID for ALWAYS continuing to design & make numerous, innovative, top quality & lasting tools. I am an avid supporter of the RIDGID TOOLS brand, and will continue to be, with your continued supply of user friendly, quality made, great warranty and durable tools!! Please see our Facebook page at:www.facebook/VauseCustomFloors.com Thanks!! VCF-J.V.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great vaccuum, good price This thing sucks, in a good way. I've used it heavily since I got it, it really pulls dust out of cracks and carpeting. With the beater attachment, it actually does a better job on carpet than my regular household carpet vaccuum. It doesn't stir up dust in the room at all, and is significantly quieter than my regular (non-HEPA) Rigid shop vac. THe only weakeness of the design is the ridicuylous attachment bag, but whatever, I'm willing to forgive that for all the other features it does have at the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridgid pulls thru again for contractors I am a licensed pro, I did my Epa certification, And now I needed the hepa vac,. With lots of research and eye popping prices,I stumbled upon this vac (AND IM GLAD I DID), I have many shop vacs including the lovless drywall vac, This ridgid vac is by far the best quality Ive ever used. It comes with all the acssesories you will ever need, The turbo beater bar is unbeleivable ( made in germany by the way) I wont ramble on ! So if you need a epa certified hepa vac than dont think twice. Ridgid makes great products ,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large Shop Type Rigid Hepa Vacuum Needed a hepa vacuum to be in compliance with the new lead paint removal rules. It was one of the less expensive large shop vacs. on the market. I own a regular Rigid shop vacuum that is many years old and works fine. I have every reason to believe that this one will be of the same quality.

It seems to be of similar good+ quailty as is most other Ridgid shop vacs I own. My dislikes are as follows: 1) the beater bar has a tendency to grab any loose yarn/fibers in or on the carpet and wind it around the rotating drum. This condition exists in most vaccums with a rotating brush/beater head but the Ridgid is difficult to remove the rotating drum to aid in the removal of the yarn. 2) numerous great attachments but insufficient room in the on board cady.
