According to the manual, 2x4if the 45 you are referring to is mitre. If mitre 0 and bevel 45, then 2x6.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT SAW Ive had this saw for 5+years!!! Not A problem with it what so ever. Cut many many feet of hardwood trim , Vinyl siding, pvc pipe. 2x4's , you name it!!!! Square up the blade when you first set this saw up and use the miter gage and every cut dead on. This thing takes a lot of abuse and keeps going. I would buy another one in a heart beat if I had to +++++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best saw for the price! Some of these reviews are lame. Let me start by saying the release pin is in the same place its in on every saw...... I first bought the Hitachi for 139.99 on sale at Lowes. I NEVER shop there but I figured I was a bit low on funds and wanted something I figured was decent. NOT! I had it for three days before coming across the Ridgid. At HD. Its by far better than any other saw out there. Infact almost all my tools are either Milwaukee or Ridgid. Mostly the later. They are made in the U.S. w/ mostly American parts. Now onto the saw. The laser is set to the left for a reason. So that you can make your cut to the left. But if you know what you're doing the laser is simply a guide. Also, I love the fact you make the cut in the base plate. The miter positions are tightly held by the grooves. Hitachi's positions are loose and can ruin your cuts. last but not least. Dewalt is OVER rated and doesn't compare to Ridgid when it comes to anything! Ridgid and Milwaukee are the only way to go!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Returned two of them... This was my first miter saw purchase and I used it frequently for a couple of weeks. First, the pros: The saw has plenty of power and sliced through my 2x lumber like butter. It feels sturdy and the dust collection worked better than I expected. The bevel adjustment was easy to use and bevel cuts were nice. Problems: I'll start with my biggest complaint. The table is not even across the top. The circular part of the table that rotates for miter cuts, is roughly 1/16 higher than the left and right side of the table. This causes the wood to flex just slightly, especially when you have it clamped down. It may not seem like a huge problem, but it was definitely affecting my straightness of my cuts. I emailed tech support about this issue and was told that I should exchange it for another one, so I assumed I just had a defective unit. When I did exchange it though, I found that the replacement was exactly the same. I figured it must just be the way it's designed. I returned the second one and bought a competitors model instead and sure enough the table is smooth and flush all the way across. Some other issues I noticed: My 90 degree cuts were coming out just slightly concave. I tuned the saw and tried two different blades with the same result. The sliding fence was not flush with the fixed fence and I could find no adjustments for this, so I just didn't use the sliding part. The miter adjustment uses a knob to tighten it down and when cutting miters I found that tightening the knob caused the table to creep a few degrees over. This also made it difficult to cut a miter that was close to one of the miter stops because the miter gague wanted to fall into place at the stops when you try to tighten the knob. The degree markings for miter are printed on a very thin piece of aluminum that seems to be stuck to the saw with adhesive and also a few very small rivets. After just a few days parts of this strip were losing adhesion and popping up in places. This could be especially problematic over the long term as this is the only way to determine your angle for miters. It seems like a few minor design flaws ruined this saw for me. 2 stars

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Bevel Cuts Although the blade is square to both the fence and miter table, the saw cannot cut a square bevel cut. It's about 2 degrees off, meaning, when you have the miter table set at 0 and the bevel angle set at 45, you end up with a compound cut. There are no adjustments for this flaw; all you can adjust is the squareness of the blade to the table and fence, which only accounts for squaring your miter cuts. I suppose you could jury rig a fix here, but you'll sacrifice precision and time, as each cut will have to be done on scrap to ensure its accuracy. Really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great saw and awesome price i just received this saw as an early Christmas present. it has great features, mine works perfect and is squared right out of the box. laser is supposed to be just off to the left of your line, even says so in the manual. and there is no safety button to depress first like someone else stated. maybe they have updated it. either way great saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I just bought this saw,and was totally amazed!Right out of the box it was percisely acurate!I read the instructions,and checked All of the adjustments,and the people at rigid sent it out right on the money!I tried to repeat a cut 6 times,and with in a minute was done,and I couldn't figure out which was the first!I have owne3d the cheaper saws,and they shook upon starting them,but the rigid saw started smooth,and cut Exactly on the laser line,which when installed,never had to be touched again!I would highly recommend this to anyone,and for the xtra money,was well worth it,and know it will OUT last the other saws!I rate this saw a 10!
