Customer Questions & Answers

Can you buy a replacement vise somewhere?

The saw works fine, but the vise has broken. I don't want to have to buy a new saw just because the vise broke.
Asked by: Mike
Mike, What part of the vice broke? If I know that I may be able to help.

Carbide Blade

Can I put a carbide metal blade on this saw similar to Dewalt DW7747?
Asked by: Josh
Yes, Just be aware the extra drag if you cut heavier materials. You can help offset this by having the saw plugged directly into a minimum 15 amp wall outlet or a higher amp outlet could support a heavy gauge extension cord but be aware of the reductions in performance and load/heat on the saw motor

What is the operating RPM?

Asked by: Anonymous
no load RPM is 3900 and you need it there to be effective, it is not a heavy duty machine

Can I put a wood blade on this to cut wood?

Asked by: Anonymous
I would not recommend it, from a safety perspective this tool was not designed to cut wood and should only have abrasive wheels used with it.

Really a Lifetime Warranty??

If the saw I purchase breaks from normal use, how do I get warranty repair? If the saw has to be replaced will the replacement again have a full lifetime warranty or do I get a refurbished one without a warranty? If it has a warranty, then how long is it on the refurbished one? Thank you!

DEFECTS IN MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP: It is our experience that a product that fails prematurely due to a manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship, will generally do so very early in the products life cycle, often the first or second time the product is used. When returned for inspection, these products are generally found to still be in like new condition and show very little signs of use. It is uncommon for a product that was manufactured with a defect, to survive under normal use for any extended period of time. Products that are returned for warranty inspection after months or years of continuous reliable service are rarely found to be defective. The most common demand for service is the result of normal wear and tear issues, which are not considered to be a defect in materials or workmanship.

Can this saw be used to cut Extruded Aluminum?

Asked by: Louverman
Yes, you can, using an abrasive disc to cut extruded aluminum may not result in the cleanest cut though and would require cleanup of the cut afterwords likely. There are special carbide blades that are better equipped for this type of work resulting in a cleaner cut. A metal bandsaw may also be a better approach.

can it be used to cut masonry cap blocks for retaining wall 3 1/2 thick 12 wide 16 long
Asked by: couchman
Hi Couchman. The 14 in. abrasive wheel of the RIDGID 14 in. Abrasive Cut-Off is included with your cut-off machine. It will cut materials up to 5 in. thick or 8 in. wide, depending upon the thickness or width of the material and the setting at which the cut is being made. It is suggested that the “Ridgid 14 in. Segmented High-Rim Diamond Blade” would be a better choice in blades for cutting masonry. For making cuts of masonry that is 12 inches wide, contact Ridgid Customer Service at: 1-866-539-1710. Be sure to have your model number available. Happy Holidays. Rick_HD_OC

I have spent some time now reading reviews on different abrasive cut off saws vs the really high dollar metal cutting saws that have the $150 carbide tipped blades on them. I am working on a project using 2 inch square tubing 1/4 inch wall. I have a Milwaukee portable band saw that will cut through anything but not very straight. My first cut with this saw was a 45 degree cut on the 2 inch square tubing. It took at least 10 minutes to get through it and towards the end it looked like it melted it's way through. Before I finished I had made up my mind I would take it back. I bought some extra discs with the saw so I thought I would try the Diablo 7/64 metal cut off disc. I was able to cut through another 45 degree angle in under 3 minutes. I did a straight cut and it only took 2 minutes. I think I could cut through it just as fast with my band saw but it wouldn't be straight. This was a lot cleaner cut. There was no disc wear that I could see. The base is heavy enough but like everyone else said the clamp system isn't great. Overall I think I will keep it.
