Carbide Blade

Can I put a carbide metal blade on this saw similar to Dewalt DW7747?
Asked by: Josh
Josh, mine came with a metal blade, and I had to purchase a separate masonry blade. You can also use diamond steel blades for masonry. Always make sure the arbor size is correct.

Can I put a wood blade on this to cut wood?

Asked by: Anonymous
I would not recommend it, from a safety perspective this tool was not designed to cut wood and should only have abrasive wheels used with it.

It was between this and the Dewalt. Note: The blade that comes with it is for metal, not stone, brick, or concrete products. I cut about 60 pavers (straight cuts) perfect. I also cut interlocking borders 4 inch by 4 inch thick concrete composite; perfect smooth cuts. The vise holds the product very tight. It isn't like sawing wood; take your time, firm, but steady pressure; let the blade do the work. Don't let the RPM drop, if it does, you are forcing the cut. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and a mask. The masonry composite blade I purchased separately didn't even look worn after all those cuts. If I was going to do many more paver projects, I would buy the diamond steel blade. I took a picture of a finished cut to demonstrate how clean it cuts. (Arizona sun... sorry about he shadow) Great product, use it correctly.

I have spent some time now reading reviews on different abrasive cut off saws vs the really high dollar metal cutting saws that have the $150 carbide tipped blades on them. I am working on a project using 2 inch square tubing 1/4 inch wall. I have a Milwaukee portable band saw that will cut through anything but not very straight. My first cut with this saw was a 45 degree cut on the 2 inch square tubing. It took at least 10 minutes to get through it and towards the end it looked like it melted it's way through. Before I finished I had made up my mind I would take it back. I bought some extra discs with the saw so I thought I would try the Diablo 7/64 metal cut off disc. I was able to cut through another 45 degree angle in under 3 minutes. I did a straight cut and it only took 2 minutes. I think I could cut through it just as fast with my band saw but it wouldn't be straight. This was a lot cleaner cut. There was no disc wear that I could see. The base is heavy enough but like everyone else said the clamp system isn't great. Overall I think I will keep it.
