Answer:
What are you trying to do? I am guessing your running this off your portable welder. I do the same. Just because your welder is running on d/c the output for the 110v should still be a/c. I have two miller portables and that's the way mine is set up. The welder part of the generator is separate from the generator part.

Answer:
RIDGID angle grinder model R10201 has not changed, is it a AC powered only power tool. You would need to check with your local Home Depot for availability on DC powered model R86040. RIDGID does not make or offer an angle grinder that is both AC/DC powered.

want grinder that will cut and shape wood for carving on logs and bigger items. Can this unit do this and can you get the blades to operate on the grinder. Wood, not metal use.

I would think you would want a 4" for that. This would be kinda cumbersome for detail work unless you just knocked it down and had a small one for the fine stuff

Can smaller lets say 4 1/2", 5" or even 6" disks, sanding or grinder wheels be used since this is a 7"? I rather have one tool for all jobs than have to have two, If you have smaller tasks to do.
Also is this a variable speed model?

Answer:
Thank you for contacting RIDGID.
Using smaller diameter grinding wheels and accessories than the standard 7” that the angle grinder is designed for, cannot be recommended or advised on due to safety guard related issues that it would create.

Would you recommend using this for concrete? I have some small areas to touch up on a slab. If yes, what type of blade would you use. Thanks!

15 Amp Corded 7 in. Twist Handle Angle Grinder is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful and compact. Very useful. I like the lighter weight and smaller size of this model then some comparable 7" grinders that are just too big and heavy. It has ample power and I like the narrower grip. I love the rotating handle. It allows you to spin the handle and mount the side grip on the top and you can use this vertically like a cut off saw. My only complaint is the handle rotation is somewhat sticky and and the button is cumbersome. But it gets easier once you're used to it. As it's a recent purchase I can't comment on longevity but I expect it will last longer than the 4.5" grinders we use frequently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out performed other leading brands! In the middle of a project....grinding a concrete patio....my Chicago Electric grinder finally burned out. I replaced it with a Dewalt grinder. Wrong choice! The Dewalt only lasted about 30 minutes! Then I had a choice. I could either drive 60 miles to return and replace the Dewalt, or I could travel 25 miles to my local Home Depot. Home Depot won the argument! I bought my new Rigid angle grinder and finished the project! I should have known better than to stray from my favorite brand!

We normally purchase Milwaukee tools, but none were available. Will never do that again. After taking it out of the box, and installing the grinding wheel, It was used for about 10 min before it was put in the truck to not be used again. 1st, the handle where the trigger switch is was loose and wobbled back and forth. 2nd, the shaft for the wheel was bent or loose in the grinder head. It vibrated so bad that it caused the wheel to skip across the surface of the metal being cleaned. It wore my shoulders and elbows out before I could really even get started on the job. It was being used to clean and bevel 72" dia pipe for culverts under the RR tracks. We had to go and purchase another grinder so the job could be completed. It was poorly made in all aspects, I will never buy another Rigid product again! The reason for the single star is that is was light weight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smoked and burned out Within the first few minutes of light duty grinding, my RIDGID angle grinder began smoking. I turned it off to allow it to cool. There was an acrid odor and it was still smoking profusely. So I unplugged it. About an hour later, I tried it again. It began smoking even worse than before. I allowed it to cool and packaged it back in the box. Very disappointing.
