Answer:
What are you trying to do? I am guessing your running this off your portable welder. I do the same. Just because your welder is running on d/c the output for the 110v should still be a/c. I have two miller portables and that's the way mine is set up. The welder part of the generator is separate from the generator part.

Answer:
RIDGID angle grinder model R10201 has not changed, is it a AC powered only power tool. You would need to check with your local Home Depot for availability on DC powered model R86040. RIDGID does not make or offer an angle grinder that is both AC/DC powered.

Answer:
I would think you would want a 4" for that. This would be kinda cumbersome for detail work unless you just knocked it down and had a small one for the fine stuff

I used this grinder for hours and hours. With the proper stone/grinder blade, it should work perfect. I have used it for eight consecutive hours, four hours at each time and it still works great. Wear gloves, if it catches on the item, it will grind fingers and not think twice. Research the proper grinding element and this should do the trick well. Can smaller lets say 4 1/2", 5" or even 6" disks, sanding or grinder wheels be used since this is a 7"? I rather have one tool for all jobs than have to have two, If you have smaller tasks to do.
Also is this a variable speed model?

Answer:
Thank you for contacting RIDGID.
Using smaller diameter grinding wheels and accessories than the standard 7” that the angle grinder is designed for, cannot be recommended or advised on due to safety guard related issues that it would create.

Would you recommend using this for concrete? I have some small areas to touch up on a slab. If yes, what type of blade would you use. Thanks!

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smoked and burned out Within the first few minutes of light duty grinding, my RIDGID angle grinder began smoking. I turned it off to allow it to cool. There was an acrid odor and it was still smoking profusely. So I unplugged it. About an hour later, I tried it again. It began smoking even worse than before. I allowed it to cool and packaged it back in the box. Very disappointing. September 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful and compact. Very useful. I like the lighter weight and smaller size of this model then some comparable 7" grinders that are just too big and heavy. It has ample power and I like the narrower grip. I love the rotating handle. It allows you to spin the handle and mount the side grip on the top and you can use this vertically like a cut off saw. My only complaint is the handle rotation is somewhat sticky and and the button is cumbersome. But it gets easier once you're used to it. As it's a recent purchase I can't comment on longevity but I expect it will last longer than the 4.5" grinders we use frequently. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grind away Grinder works great and swivel handle helps make it easy to hold... April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Grinder I bought the tool a few months ago and only used it for small jobs. Since then I've replaced sections of four and six inch cast iron sewer line. The twist handle made the job so much simpler. I highly recommend this grinder performs well and very dependable. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RIGID Grinder Purchased this grinder because of the speed (8000 RPM). Needed the speed for the diamond grinding cup that I bought. It gets the job done! December 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Descent Works as expected, it's right in line with its price. Middle of the line for contracting grade. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good purchase for my needs. This grinder works great at my shop, for the guys. The wheels are easy to change, and has held up great with amount of use we put on it, motors, pipes (metal), and etc. November 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by didnt last 3 hours I am taking this in for warranty the next couple of days. I bet I didn't get three hours on this thing before the motor smoked! The switches they are using on this ridged stuff are complete garbage! I bet that's all that was wrong with it at first but probably shorted out and that's what took out the motor. With in the first few minutes of using it the rocker switch would not turn it on and I had to shake it around to get it to fire up. I have a ridged shop vac that didn't last very long either from the same switch trouble. The product weight and power seem great. I like everything about this stuff, I guess I will see how the warranty goes and post more than. December 20, 2014
