Customer Questions & Answers

Where can I get another container?

I'd like to use the same motor and just switch the container so I don't have to dump the vac as often.
Asked by: jhey

how do you set it up to suck up water

Asked by: Anonymous
Unlike other shop vac designs this vacuum does not have a special "wet" configuration. Just vacuum water or wet material just like you would anything else. Just make sure you wash it out and let it dry after wet use. The filters are wet washable.

would this be suitable for a dust collector in a small shop hooked up to some PVC for extra inlets?

Asked by: dh
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. If the hookups at each tool can be opened and closed as needed (one tool/dust collector port open at a time), it is suitable. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or you may send your email to Regards, RIDGID Customer Support

What is the db rating of the 16 gal Model # WD1680 vs. the 14 gal Model # WD1450

I'm trying to compare the db rating of the 16 gal. Model # WD1680 to the 14 gal. Model # WD1450. I've read the 16 gallon is louder than the 14 gallon, I just don't know how much louder in decibles. If I knew the db rating of each model that would be great!

The best solution, regardless of what vac you're using is hearing protection. I use custom molded ear plugs called "hearPlugz" that have a noise filter knocking everything below 85 db. That being said, I have run this vac without hearing protection and it's loud but not unbearable. I don't have a db meter to check.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic wet/vac! This is a great wet/vac. I used it already to finish emptying my above ground pool. Worked great and very quick cleanup. I love that it is also a blower! Would definitely recommend this product. I got lucky with a price reduction!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More power, great new features I was looking for a replacement for my Ridgid 16 gallon vac with removable motor that I bought probably 15 years ago. The motor hadn't died, but it was terminally ill. But the aluminum impeller gave out first, so getting a new one became the task of the week. The current equivalent is a little stronger - always a good thing. The removable motor/blower now has a very functional cord winding feature, and the blower nozzle has a locking feature, so I don't have to worry about chasing the nozzle across the yard any more. The tool storage attachment is a big improvement over the previous model. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my new vac. We'll see if durability is equally improved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to operate. I so far have only used this shopvac in tandem with my Ridged 13" planer, it has amazing suction! I have very little to clean up when the project is done. The machine could be a 5/10 on noise in a small garage. But still fairly quiet compared to Ridged's competitors. Easy 10/10 on suction all the debris in my truck from scrap wood and metal shavings, all vacuumed and leaving my hands sliver free. The detachable blower is amazing and really easy to detach and blow the shelfs off of dust. My only complaint, the hand tools do not stay held in there place when dumping wood shavings, they tend to fall with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for detailing vehicles. i use it 2 hours a day for the last 2 years. I bought this vacuum about 2 years ago. I use it for my mobile detailing business. it runs at least 2 hours a day 7 days a week. it still works like the day I bought it. I wash a car, dry it, then use the blower to blow off the tires and wheels, and cracks where water drips down the car. then I vacuum out the interior, or pull the filter and clean water out of a boat I am detailing. it is really 2 tools in one so it saves space in my mobile detailing vehicle. quit shopping and buy this vacuum. I never leave reviews, but I figured this product was worth the time to review...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight but solid. The vacuum is light in weight but sold. Rolls around easily, even across cords and mats. Very strong suction and the hose connections are well fit to maintain the power. The only reason I have just a "good" for "Ease of use" is the on/off switch requires a strong finger and thumb push which is pretty awkward for aging fingers. I've read other reviews that touted the quiet noise level but the only time I was impressed by the quietness was when I detached and used the blower. It has to be the quietest blower I've ever heard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good Wet Vac/Blower than everyone should have Good lifetime warranty. Very powerful, I use it today in wood working and it did a great job getting the saw dust up. I didn't get a chance to use the option in using the bag they have available in collecting small particles. Also used the blower that was very powerful. It also has the locked nozzle feature that I enjoy and don't have to worry about the nozzle blowing off like the replaced blower I have. Happy with this product,
