Hi Bet, You pull back the lever and load your nails. Release the lever to push the nails. Thanks for asking, Greg

LOOKING TO PURCHASE TO INSTALL NEW BASE BOARDS AND TOE BOARDS OR QUARTER ROUND LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS ONE WILL WORK OR YOUR SUGGESTION

Asked by: tp
In my opinion, this is a good size nail gun for multiple jobs including the base boards and quarter round. There are a great variety of nail sizes in 16 guage. This particular model is very user friendly and simple to use. Good luck!!

My gun is not shooting nails but only air. It does not have a jam. Any ideas?

Asked by: Tom
It's a common problem. Rigid advertises a lifetime warranty on seals and pistons but they only pay the repair shop $20 to fix it. That's why it's hard to find a repair shop. If changing out common parts (O-rings) doesn't fix it, then the dealer has more into than he will get paid. Rigid says 6-12 weeks for repair. I say I need to buy another nailer so I have one on-hand. Not much of a warranty.

Can this go through 2" oak fence boards

I am about to work at a farm putting up new fences/repairing existing. The fences use 2" x 6" x 16' fence boards. Do you all think that this can handle the task?
Asked by: Charlie
sorry to say a finish nailer is not the tool to nail 2X6 fence boards. 2 reasons, (1) the maximum nail length for this nailer is 2.5 inches. your 2x6 is 1.5 inches thick, that means the nail will only engage 1 inch into the post, not enough. (2) the head of a finish nail will not hold an outdoor fence board in place as it tries to warp due to rain and sun conditions. Two options, a hammer and ring shank galvanized nails 3" long, or galvanized screws 3" long (more initial labor but will outlast any other option).

My 21 year old Porter Cable 16 gauge nailer finally blew out an internal part (new part is on order). However, I needed to do some work before the parts came in for the PC. The Ridgid was the best price and lightest weight option that had a 3/4 - 2 !/2 inch nail range. The one I bought was an obvious returned nailer, no box no safety glasses, partial used nail container, part number hand written on the bag... but that's okay, it worked just fine, I like the way it loads nails (easier than the PC) and the nail depth adjustment is easier to adjust. When my PC part comes in, I'll fix it and give to my brother in law. So at the end of the day, weight, nail range, ease of loading, and easy depth adjustment are all pros. The belt hook is not a need for me and is kind of obtrusive (not removable best I can tell).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy!! I have used this gun on several houses and it works great on trim for windows and base moldings. It has yet to jam on me as i had issed with my previous bostich gun. Comes with a sweet bag that can easily store spare nail boxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great nailer, no misfires I have been using a 15 gauge nailer on some flooring projects and received this in time to do a job at an in-laws. Right out of the box the tool worked flawlessly. No assembly other than inspecting the tool, oiling it and adding the air fitting. I will say the swivel fitting provided by RIDGID is just a nice touch versus the straight version. I ran the gun at 90lbs and shot 2" nails. Not one problem going through oak flooring or setting the nail head. My only issue was finding 16 gauge nails, they aren't as common as 15 and 18 so keep that in mind. other than that and the lightweight storage bag. I have no complaints.

I found this air powered nailer far exceeded my expectation in terms of performance and agility. The overall design is very intuitive for the user. The nails load and unload easily and the positioning it in place is right on target. The no oil functionality is a big plus. One improvement the manufacturer may consider is providing a hard case such as the type found Hitachi air nailers. I would also be nice to have a user manual larger in size with larger print and product illustrations. It was kind of a headache getting the tool registered for the LSA but worth the trouble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid nailer for the price I've been very happy with the Ridgid brand, and this is no exception. Came with a protective case and supply for finishing nails. When I unpacked it I read the cautions and instructions briefly, then put it aside for the weekend. I had a few board ends popping on the deck and decided to test it out right away. On Saturday I fired up the compressor, ran a hose through the house and out the back door, loaded some nails, and got to work. It was set on medium driving strength, so I backed it off a couple of clicks and was done in no time. There was no weird kick back, every nail went straight and drove home. Once again, the Ridgid product is a cut above the store brands and the standard fare without being "pro" priced. A great line of tools for the DIYer home owner.

After a few months of occasional use, an air leak suddenly developed at the bottom pf the handle. I have seen several complaints from people about this on other website. It was still under warranty so I drove it to the nearest repair center (60 miles away). It has been there for more than two months now and the shop is not able to fix it. The other instances make me think it is an intrinsic design flaw. The RIGID guarantee is of little value.
