Can this unit be used to point up towards a ceiling or on and angle? Seems the weight of the wheels could off balance the unit.

I had no need to test the upward angle as my dampness resulted from water on the floor. The unit is balanced well on the wheels.

Answer:
these air movers are often times used at 45 or 90 degrees. It is no problem whatsover. Ive used them to point straight up to dry the ceiling many times. These ARE NOT just for floors. That is probably what they are used the least for by all professional drying contractors. More for walls and ceilings.

Answer:
Pointing directly toward the ceiling is no problem. I have not had a situation to where an angle would be necessary, so I cannot address that. Balance is no issue.

The HD answer man does not know that this fan can be pivoted upwards and does a great job in the up position. If its not specified as that, it still works.
It pitches more than a 45 degree angle.

Hi Randy,
While some blowers can be pivoted this fan cannot. It is specifically designed for use on floors.

yes, the motor gets tired, give it plenty of rest, a hot meal and a shower and run it again. remember that you are paying the fan overtime for running it so hard. it is exhausted. lol

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 65 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As advertised: moves a lot of air! After a flooded basement and a professional dry-out, I wanted to have a blower comparable to the ones the pros use for any residual moisture. The Ridgid blower did the job. When I pulled out a cabinet and found some water, the blower dried the cabinet, floor and wall in a few hours. It's easy to move around, too, with the telescoping handle. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by it did the job dried up my crawl space in no time great machine very durable August 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs more specs What is the HP rated Motor in this? Huge thing for me is Where is my extra power outlet on the side when I need to daisy chain these together?!!! I will most likely be returning this and getting a 1hp or better with the side outlets when I need to operate more than one at a time. Another thing. I purchased this as an Open box for 199 - the unit was clearly used and I was not given any compensation towards the purchase. If I had got this for 150, I could see keeping it. It is just NOT a 200 air mover. August 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for drying out wet carpet and padding. Our bathroom flooded so I went to Home Depot to find a fan to dry out the carpet and padding. This fan worked great. I also like the handle. It makes it easy to move around. July 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the job Not super loud and I like the 3 speed option. Also easy to move from place to place. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional Quality I discovered a leak around my air conditioner that left the carpet wet. I initially purchased an inexpensive blower, but as soon as I turned it on I knew it wasn't up to the task. So, it went back to the store and was exchanged for the Ridgid. This a very heavy duty unit, but it has a sturdy molded handle on the top and suitcase style handle and wheels on the back side. The thirty foot cord is commercial duty and wraps around the handle for storage. This blower moves a lot of air, but is surprisingly quiet. In the future I will be able to use this to dry shampooed carpet without the noise driving everyone out of the room. Unlike competitive units where an extended warranty costs you more, this one comes with the Ridgid lifetime warranty. I am very happy with my purchase. August 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for basement drying basement after a flood Awoke to a geyser coming through the floor of our basement after receiving eight inches of rain in a few hours. Wet/Dry Vac and regular household fans were not enough. Ran to HD to get this floor dryer and it worked excellently. 24 hours of this on and the basement was dry, the wooden shelving legs were dry, and no smells of damp basement. Looking forward to using in the garage in the winter after snow melts off vehicles. I'd buy it again. It's a lot of money to drop for a home owner on a floor fan, but definitely worth it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Moves a lot of air You need air moved? You need to dry out carpet/pad after a leak? This is the product you need. Excellent! March 6, 2016
