I originally purchased this tool in kit with the drill/ radio combo in December 2013 as I had used a buddy's previously and was initially impressed.. This tool is SUPER and has plenty of power to complete nearly all tasks asked. Have used to drive 3" screws in seasoned treated decks and new construction alike. You can go for a very long time on one charge. FYI--The bigger batteries really do last longer. Handle feels comfortable and no issues with function in 2 years. LED lights to shine on work area is very helpful if working inside. Have also used working on cars and compact size is great. So impressed with operation I have begun buying more in this line. Would like to see more individual tools and various kits available at the store. Big determining factor for me was the LSA and the interchangeable batteries. So far have not needed the LSA but piece of mind is well worth it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Apwillard1986 Great saw with usable power!
This saw is unique in my tool arsenal as it is the only tool that I bought independent of a project requiring it. I just wanted it and it has since proved itself to be invaluable. This saw is powerful and it is usable! I've used many reciprocating saws that where big, heavy, and intimidating. They make lots of noise and often vibrate things apart before they cut them apart. This saw is a winner because it is so usable. It stays where you put it and goes where you point it and makes quick work of anything in-between. You are going to want a high capacity battery to power it as it does use some juice but that is to be expected. All in all a great tool!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kellry2 Powerful aggressive Recip saw
I purchased this after returning the corded model. The corded couldn't hold a blade. This cordless not only holds the blade but cuts better and faster. I was shocked at how much better this saw finished the job that the corded saw started. Depending on the material you're cutting determines the battery life. Basic wood and nothing heavy the battery will last a good 30 minutes. Heavy material the battery is dead in 10. These are the 1.5 amp/hour batteries. If you need longer run time, then get the 2.0 or 4.0 Amp/hour batteries. This is an awesome powerful saw. You will not be disappointed with this one.

I am a professional HVAC/R contractor. Purchased the 5-piece set almost two years ago. I use all the tools very hard and have never had one fail me. I did have a battery that the charger said was defective. I took it to Home Depot service desk and they promptly got a new battery for me, no questions or hassles. Battery life is better then the Milwaukee's that other contractors I work with own. They are always asking to use my Ridgid tools. I will definitely buy more Ridgid tools!

This saw is everything a tool like this should be. It is powerful yet compact and lightweight (in the best sense of the word). It is incredibly easy to control. I have a corded circular saw that is bigger and more powerful but this is the tool I grab nine times in ten. A tool you use because it is convenient is a useful tool. I wish it came with the rip fence but I guess we can't have everything.

The design is great. The saw is lightweight with plenty of power for smaller jobs. My only complaint is that the levers to lock the base plate are made of plastic and strip out if you're not careful.
The levers have small teeth on the inside so you can reposition them, which is a nice design feature, but the material won't stand up to repeated use unless you are careful not to put too much pressure on the lever with your thumb. The levers should be made from steel.

I have to say that the tools are pretty darn good, but the batteries are the worst that I have ever gotten. I have 4 different manufacturers of cordless tools, 5 counting the big 36v weedeater - and these are the absolute worst ever.
And the replacement batteries are really really expensive and are not much better than the garbage you get when you buy the big sets.
They should GIVE the tools away and just charge for batteries.
