Customer Questions & Answers

I currently have a set of rigid tools that use R84008 batteries. The charger that came with my set is an R840091. Is this radio, charger, and battery compatible with my current charger and tools? Basically, can I use this battery and charger with my existing tools and charger? Thank you.

Battery qualifiy for LSA?

Would the battery in this kit qualify for Ridgid's LSA? I have heard that sometimes even if it comes in a kit it will not qualify if Ridgid think the radio is an accessory.
Asked by: Anonymous
When registered, it was only a 3 year warranty for each item. Radio, battery, and charger. No LSA.

I have the older 18 volt MAX battery #130254003 with Hammer drill #R841150 and lost charger, can I use this charger to charge older battery?

On the 18volt MAX battery #130254003 it says to only use with Charger #140276002. Would the charger in this kit be ok for this battery?
Asked by: Stonesoup
Yes the charger will charge the NiCd batteries as well.. That is if it's still good..

18-Volt Radio Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I thought Ridgid stood for better quality than DeWalt but I was wrong Bought a Ridgid combo 18 Volt Drill and Impact set with charger and two batteries, one has failed, will not take a charge. These batteries are way costly, to buy a replacement, should have stayed with DeWalt, they stand behind quality. Totally disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice radio After getting this guy in, I charged the battery and loaded it in my truck. I guess it must have fallen into the crack of the seat and the door sometime during the night because upon opening the door the next day it bounced down a very high driveway and skidded across a black top road. Of course I assumed this thing was dead but it fired right up and it has been providing tunes ever sense. The mp3 adapter is great and the batteries last forever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second double failure I originally purchased a combo kit just to use at home due to the lower price . I won't mention the normal brand the I use but I'll simply say that I've gone through a total of four of rigid a lithium batteries. My normal brand has been beat up and used many times as long with no failures yet. The first rigid failure, I was lucky enough to run into a rep at HD and he gave me a free( by mail) third battery if I bought two. All these brands do the same basic function but some have more frequent failures. Almost forgot I was told that my last two were still under the warranty period now I only need a receipt!!!@? Rated 1 out of 5 by from died for no reason...replacement very costly. couple years old and seldom used...just decided not to take a charge. push button and one light comes on just to tease you. this is a known issue...lots of complaints online. Rigid does not seem to care

Rated 1 out of 5 by from lifetime my butt. This battery seemed great for a short time. After a few months would only run down 1/4 of the way, I thought it was a fluke until it happened to a second battery. Then it happened to a third and about 7 months of not a lot of use they would not charge at all. I made the mistake of not registering the tools and was told since they were more than 30 days old there was nothing they could do. I love the tools, all of my Ridgid tools but the batteries in my opinion are junk. Wish they would just replace them with new, they say lifetime. If they would stand behind them like other brands they are the only brand I would buy. I have about 40+ battery tools and 6 different brands and for the tools themselves they are the best all around but the batteries themselves are junk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good addition if you already have Ridgid power tools If you are looking for "big" stereo sound this won't be enough. You will have to look at the bigger jobsite radios. If, however, you are looking for something very portable with a small footprint this will fit the bill. The sound is adequate considering the size. I listen to a lot of talk radio and it works fine in that application. My wife has been taking this to beach with her since it is so portable and the battery will last for days. Again, don't expect a huge sound coming from this tiny unit. It does have an auxiliary input with a strap on the back to hold your mp3 player. iPhone and iPod fit perfect, anything smaller would be held securely as well. I wish it had a preset feature. Scanning between radio stations can be a bit tedious if you are a channel flipper. It does remember the last station it was tuned to when shut off. There are no sound adjustments, what you hear is what you get. So overall I would recommend this for its portability

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound I am so happy that I bought this radio. I was so surprised at the quality of sound that this little guy has. I plugged my MP-3 player into it's aux plug and it was music to the ears. Wow. Although it isn't a heavy radio, the carrying handle is nice to use. I love how the knob scans for a station, unlike so many radio's where you have to keep turning the knob to find a station that is clear to listen to. This is definitely the radio of choice when I'm out at the pool. The power pack battery does not add much weight to the radio and I like that there are indicators to show me how much power I still have before needing a recharge. I'm very very happy with this Rigid Radio and Battery pack and Charger Unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Hottest Radio on Job Very nice Rigid, a big radio in a very small package can put on like the staircase and we can all hear it very clearly throughout the house. Lots out in the country and the reception is very good no static and very clear. Battery life is great and fast charge when needed. Much better than the other LARGE radio on the market.
