What are the advantages of a Ridgid hammer drill over a Ridgid standard cordless drill, and vice versa?

I own a cordless Ridgid recip saw, circ saw, jig saw and the Ridgid 8600 drill. I am very happy with all of them including the batteres. Just wondering if I should add a hammer drill to the collection.
Asked by: Greg57
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID! A hammer drill provides a hammer type action that aids in driving the bit inward into various hard surfaces and materials, like concrete. Whether that would be an advantage or not is something you would need to determine based on your expected possible drilling needs. Most customers find that a regular drill/driver fits most of their regular drilling needs. Regards, RIDGID

Will the Max Hc Battery work on R8611501B Hammer Drill?

Hi Dick, yes the RIDGID Max Hc battery will work with this 18 volt tool. This is one of RIDGID's best and long running batteries.

Where do I buy the batteries and charger and how much do they cost.

What voltage are the batteries?
Asked by: Anonymous
You can get them through your local Home Depot store and they would be the ones to answer the pricing question.

Customer Reviews

18-Volt X4 Hammer Drill Console (Tool Only) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of Power My wife ordered this for me for my birthday and I used it for the first time this weekend with a hole saw. It had plenty of power to drill a 4 1/4 hole saw through a 2x10 in order to relocate a dryer vent. It seemed to get pretty hot around the motor but I guess that's to be expected due to the power and energy required to drill that big of a hole. I'm a little disappointed that it didn't come with a belt clip or a case but I did order the tool only, no battereies. I have the same model impact driver and it came with a belt clip that you can move to either side of the drill. We'll see how it works out and plan to use it plenty in my house remodel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bogus Warranty!!! The Drill failed after six months! Ridgid will not honer the Warranty! I've been using hand power tools professionally for 40 years and I have never had a tool fail so easily. I'm very disappointed...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Powerful for a cordless drill This drill, I think is almost as powerful as a impact driver, if your not careful with the clutch setting, you will rip the head off your screws with ease. I'm a tool junky, so I own way more brands of cordless drills than I care to list. but I'm more proud to own this drill than my Snap on CDR 7850H, imagine that. I didn't like the boxy looking clutch, so I just installed one I fount on sell at Lowes. WOW!! now it definitely meets my rugged/stylish expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent drill! My wife bought me this when we bought our first home. My first nice power tool of my own; this tool sold me on Ridgid and I have since completed my collection. In the three years I have owned this drill I have used it countless times and it's power and battery life still impress me. I even used it in a pinch to mix joint compound and that is after it spent three days sinking countless drywall screws. It is a bit heavy but that is true of all drills in this class. From concrete anchors to lag screws this thing has helped me get it all done.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not sure yet haven't really used it much yet don't know if it's supposed to do this but when I tried to use it on hammer setting it bouged down and locked up and wouldn't work for a couple of seconds. it seems like if you try to use it on hammer drill to inpact a bolt it won't work.i don't know if it is supposed to work like that!
