Questions & Answers

Does this come with a case?

Asked by: Jim
You get a kind of sewn-up bag; no case. I don't know how well this case will perform in a construction environment. It has a strap and is well made.

I was a bit perturbed (PO'D) when they wanted $19.48 to check out the problem so I left and just bought Hitachi at lowes so I could get back to work. Now i just calmed down enough to bring this back to my not so friendly home depot 05/24/2017 , paid the money for them to look at it, signed forms 3 full pages, could not get a copy of the papers I signed, and to make matters worse they told me 5-8 weeks ... and I thought I got a bargain at the time of purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Regrets We tore out our master bathroom to the studs to completely remodel it. The remodel included builing a new whirlpool tub apron, framing a new exterior window opening, and building a potty room. Since I'm doing most of the work myself, and with that much framing required, it gave me a wonderful excuse to buy a lot of tools that I've always wanted. One of those was a framing nailer. Now, this is the first nailer I've ever bought or operated, so I have no prior experience to compare it with. All I can say is that if I can figure it out, it shouldn't be any problem for most people with far more experience (which in my case was none) than I have. Since I didn't have any prior experience, I did take time to read the manual first, and that was probably a good thing, as it probably saved me a lot of time in the long run, and informed about features I didn't even know it had. Took all of 15 minutes. All I can say is that the nailer did a great job in every respect. The best part is that it worked great with my little portable compressor that doesn't even have a visible air tank on it. I just set the preasure to a little over 100 psi and the gun put 3 inch nails through two, two by four studs without complaint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frustration at first, now perfect I purchased this gun from my local Home Depot a few months ago. I'm framing a room in my basement and building a few shelves in my garage so it was time for a nail gun. I just read another review written by "crunchynoodle" and I experienced similar problems. My gun would not shoot nails as it was supposed to. I oiled it and turned up my air pressure but it would only shoot one nail and stop firing. I planned on returning the gun but I eventually figured out that there is an orange adjustment on the nail slide for the different thicknesses of nails. This was too tight so it was preventing the nails from feeding into the chamber. I am not sure if this feature is even necessary but if it is, the Rigid factory should adjust it to accommodate standard framing nails, thus prevent frustrations out of the box. Now that this adjustment has been made to the gun, I’ve been very happy with this gun. The gun is a bit heavy but now performs flawlessly. I would recommend this product but think Rigid should make the correct adjustments to prevent unhappy customers in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little less fluff please I had the opportunity to try one of these nailers out after a friend purchase one. The power is good, weight it good, but the extra thick handle also counters this nailers relatively good weight by making it bulky - a bit hard to hit the trigger when your all stretched out. It also has a rather tall stance. Probably not bad for general use, but if your the type that skates across top plates and thinks a hanger on a gun is something that gets in the way, then this may not be the best choice. I also looked at the display unit at my local store. Things that are visually appealing when new-- like rubber on the trigger --were pealing off so I would not count on them lasting long.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for me I bought this tool for my remodeling business along with a cheap $54 one for breakdown times. I returned the first 3 of the rigid guns and called tech support. I found out through the conversation that the directions had a misprint so I was adding too much oil thus causing the O rings to fail. Thanks to Home Depot's great return policy I was able to return each gun. I bought a fourth gun with high hopes of it making the job go faster. After a few days the same problem occurred and the gun was unusable. I took out my cheap gun and I've been using that since. As a remodeler of older homes it seems the gun doesn't like the dense chestnut that I nail my new wood into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gun Top Quality!!!! Bought this gun to do a basement remodel. Have a HEAVY Senco clipped head nailer that likes to shoot 2 nails at a time. Wanted to go to full round head nails. This gun is excellent for framing studs and very easy to use and operate. 85 psi on my compressor and it buries the nail head about 3/16 of an inch-perfect. Very light, not noisy, and no jams. Only drawback is the plastic collated nails make a mess-the plastic collating material falls all over your work area-but just sweep it up when you're all done. Good job Ridgid-don't forget LIFETIME WARRANTY-Can't be beat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Smooth Nailer I have been very pleased with this products performance. I used it to do the framing for a guest house I built. Ran many hundreds of nails through it with no problems, no jams, very few nails not driven all the way, etc. My experience with it has been good. I used various lengths of nails, and it fed everything it was supposed to. I will also say that the customer service through the warranty registration interface was very good and attentive... This was a good product, so I bought the brad nailer and air powered oscillating multi tool to roud out the collection. All of which perform well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong with this Framing Nailer I had a choice from any framing nailer available from home depot, and this was the one I wanted. Turns out to have been a great choice! For years now I've been finding outstanding quality in ridgid tools and this nailer is no different. My ridgid brad nailer has offered me nothing short of perfect performance and so far, this framing nailer has proved the same. With lots of power and convenient features you'd expect to find in a quality (or more expensive) nailer and its light weight magnesium housing, what more could you want? Furthermore, it comes with ridgid's Lifetime service agreement, which covers even normal wear items like O-rings and pistons! I'm confident I've made the right choice in framing nailers, what choice will you make?
