Customer Questions & Answers

This # 615-16456AB 25 ft Generator cord with 5 outlets will NOT fit my new Generator.

I purchased a GP9500EB 7,500 continuous Watt generator from HD and this# 615-16456AB Cord will not fit into the plug. Why does HD sell a cord that doesn't work with there own generator?
Asked by: harry
There are two different power outlet levels for portable generators. The smaller units are 20 AMP, and use this type of cord. I assume your 7,500 watt generator has a 30 AMP output, and requires a heavier duty cord. The connectors are intentionally different for safety reasons.

Can this cord be used as a regular extension cord or does it have to be connected to a generator?

Asked by: Anonymous
The cord doesn't "know" what it's connected to, it's merely a connection between a charge and a load. In short, Yes, the cord can be used for anything, not just generators.

i have a 30 amp transfer box can i use the ridgid 20 amp 5 inlet cord to power my home or do i have to use a 30 amp power cord

Asked by: Anonymous
You will need to consult with a licensed electrician concerning the connecting to and powering of a residence/home with a generator. RIDGID cannot advise on matters of that nature.

Customer Reviews

25 ft. Generator Cord With 5-Outlet is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, BUT!! This is an outstanding cord. With that said; I do think there should have been a bit more emphasis placed on the fact that this cord will not fit most generators. It requires an adapter to use on 30 amp plugs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pay attention to the pronged adapters Extension cords are pretty binary as far as working or not, but outside of that these are very durable and very heavy duty, which you need. I like the spaced out outlets to allow for spreading the juice to multiple items without needing multiple heavy duty pigtails/splitters, and the lighted adapters are nice. My voice of caution would be to pay attention to the prongs when you're buying cords. For example, for these heavy duty cords they include the round twist lock male prongs with the standard female receptacles. The 50' cord I bought is only the twist locks. This is pretty common sense but is something easily misunderstood or overlooked when buying multiple cord arrangements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wrong cord I immediately returned the product because it was my error in that i did not notice the plug ends. I wanted standard 20 amp plugs/ends and they were not my bad. Seemed to be high quality equipment
