just bought palm nailer r350pne. First time try to use get air exhaust continupously out of palm pad.

Sounds like the back cover has come loose. Check your manual it seems that there was a method described in there on how to clean a filter that sits under that cover. It may help you get it sealed back up. Good Luck!

Can this nailer be used with floor cleats? See attached photo.

Asked by: Mark
I just measured the inside diameter of the nail head opening at a hair over 3/8". If the nail head of your floor cleat is under that, it shouldn't have an issue.

What is the minimum size compressor for this? Drains my small compressor tank QUICKLY.

Asked by: Itt174
According to the manual, this tool operates nominally at 100PSI, but it doesn't give a rating for CFM specifically. Rather, it talks about .1 cuft per cycle. I can only assume that a single cycle is equivalent to a single blow of the hammer. Different sized nails will require a different number of cycles to drive them. Most recently, I used this tool to drive 16D nails. This is probably the top end of the cycle requirement. It's likely that this takes between 40 and 50 cycles per nail, so 4-5 cuft per nail. I certainly wasn't moving super quickly, so I was maybe driving one every few minutes. So at a high end, I might say 5 CFM? Now if you have a pancake compressor, this would probably cause it to run a lot. But get one with a slightly larger tank and you should be ok.

3-1/2 in. Palm Nailer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool, but it does need regular maintenance. This little powerhouse has the ability to drive anything from a 6 penny to a 16 penny nail in both hard and soft woods. It's fairly lightweight and runs well on a standard air compressor. The body shape and strap allow the tool to fit comfortably in your hand. I did notice that you sometimes need to guide the nail with your fingertips for the first couple of strikes. Once aligned and heading in the desired direction, you can just get after it and drive it home. The nailer does require regular oiling and tightening, or you will find it blowing air out the side of the body. There are 4 cap head 1/4" hex screws on the back that tend to work themselves loose over time. Just crank them down a bit every once in a while and you'll be fine. I had to hang hundreds of hurricane straps and joist brackets and without this nailer, I'd probably still be working on getting those all up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little tool so far I haven't had or used the nailer for long enough to give a comment on reliability but so it has been really a great tool. This little guy will drive big nails fast in close quarters but I found I did have to guide the nail with my other hand until it was about 1/3rd the way in but just on the big nails. The tool is really great for putting up joist hangers. The magnet in the tool holds the nail in place while you position the hanger and then just put the nail head where you want and give a little push and the nail is secured in about 1/2 a second or less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tool! Use to install those nails that hold on joist hangers all day for about a week straight on several different large decks I did last summer. Works Flawlessly! If I was to never use this tool again it was worth the money! But I use this tool alot and it still works and looks new!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance and durable I used this nailer a lot with installing 2x10 blocking on my deck. Large framing nails are driven in easily with around 80-90 psi. I've had the nailer for a couple of years now and have used it for other miscellaneous framing jobs into 2x lumber of all types. It performs very well at toe nailing when you need to slowly star to set the nail. I've never had it jam on me or blow out o-rings or anything like that. Then again, I put a few drops of oil in it before the start of any job--Like everyone should. I read other reviews and I'm amazed that people think using air tool oil in an air tool is an option. It's in the manual, it's common sense unless the tool is specifically made to be used without oil. I think the quality is very good and the lifetime warranty from Ridgid covers any shortcomings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase this year! Best tool I've purchased in a long time! This palm nailer was perfect for driving nails into joist hangers between joists or any other tight space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little maintenance..... Like these reviews are sayin mine leaked air the 1st time too. I loosened & re"torqued" (as accurate as can be had by hand) the allen heads on the main body & have never had it happen again. That was over 4 months ago & it does get used (I'm a contractor). Oiling before each use helps too. I've killed a few not oiling thru the years. I never fail to oil my guns these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Can't Believe that I waited so long to discover this Awesome Tool! I have a 5HP Quincy Air Compressor with a 60 gallon tank. The compressor is setup with a module to adjust output pressure, filter, and add lubricant oil to the air for tools. We are installing a large loft in my barn/shop/garage and on a whim I purchased this tool to try for speeding up installation of the joist hangers. Without a doubt this is going to be one of my favorite tools. I was able to drive 1-1/2 galvanized joist hanger nails and small headed 10d galvanized nails both with ease. The larger 16d type nails are easier to steer, but with a small amount of practice I was able to steer the smaller nails quite easily as well. It helps on the smaller headed nails if you make sure the nail is resting flat inside the nail gun and pointed the direction you intend for it to head before putting enough pressure on the nail head to trigger the driving action. I was running this tool at 120 psig and had no problems whatsoever. I only wish I had decided to buy this thing years ago!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't ever leave home without it So pleasantly surprised by this little beast. Easy to operate, drives a huge variety of nails (actually use it for up to 4in so far with no problem) and it leaves no discernable marks even on soft wood. For saving time and energy and not sacrificing quality, it was worth every penny!
