For the 1st time, I'm disappointed in Home Depot (online). Received my sander in a damaged box which was re-taped prior to shipment. Its clear the unit had been dropped multiple times due to both ends of the box were pushed in or crushed. This is NOT shipping damage, the tape is tight over the top of the damage and not conforming to the actual box damage shape. Returning unit to store, unopened, for exchange. I don't know if it will die 4 month from now due to the drops before I received it. If these are opened box or returns, it should be stated in description. If it's Home Depot's policy to ship damaged box products that would have been difficult to sell in a store (who would actual pick this one from a shelf), it should be stated in the description.

I used Milwaukee brand products for years but had always heard great things about Ridgid. So when someone broke into my shop and stole all my power tools I decided to go ahead and start replacing my tools with the Ridgid brand. I have not been let down at all. Everything I use continues to work like it is new and if anything does fail I have their lifetime warranty to fall back on. This sander is just another example of the fine quality of a project that Ridgid puts out.

My wife bought this as a Christmas gift. I used it maybe 10 times in 3 years. Two weeks ago, the drive belt broke(shredded actually), and I replaced that no problems. First time back under power it shreds another drive belt. Something is definitely wrong internally on this thing. I email Ridgid, and guess what, because its 3 years old and I forget to register the product, im stuck with it. I ask them why they dont stick by their products and I get a link to a repair part site. Yeah, maybe that might help if I knew what was wrong with this piece of junk. Using this thing 3 times a year on average is not using it. Lifetime warranty--no its not. I have several Ridgid tools and this will be the last one. Was going to buy the spindle sander, guess Ill step up to the Grizzly one now. Hey HD, will you take this back?

A well designed sander; easy to change sanding belts and good ergonomics. The weight makes it easy to use but stout enough for most any job. Some others are just too heavy and bulky.

Used this to sand my kitchen floors, it did a phantastic job, it was very easy to change belts. Dust collection was actually pretty good. Very nice grip on the handle. I also like the slow start function, has a speed adjuster as well. Very happy customer.

It overheats and it is too slow, as well as not heavy enough. I am usually very happy with Rigid products, but this one is not worth the $99.
