Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Huck0436 Horrible Grinder!
95 % of my tools are Ridgid and I love them which is why I went with Ridgid when I needed a new angle grinder. Unfortunately, this particular product is garbage! Sure it works and I like the design but it vibrates your hands so bad I can't stand to use it for more than a minute at a time. I have had it for over a year and have been forced to use another brand of grinder every time I have needed one. I now have posted the thing for sale in order to replace it with a better grinder. Probably why the grinder is now discontinued..... I would love to see Ridgid make it right for such a dedicated Ridgid user.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jared tile great design, bad parts
the only reason I keep buying this grinder is because of the slim handle. most of my other ridgid tools are great. I've had 3 of these grinders and each one the rear bearing goes bad in about 8-12 months. I have to buy another one today but I think I'll see if I can find a different one with a similar design

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Woolf The adjustable guard is tops
The work I do with this grinder is primarily knife making and blacksmithing, and I have had no qualms with this product.
I have seen concerns with this products shape but I have had no problem avoiding the hot air vent. If you have very large hands you might want a different style, I mean hands like spatchcocks. The construction seems tight and sturdy, and the adjustable guard has saved me loads of time. I constantly have to shift it about as I grind the different bits of a blade.
It's a good grinder, that's all that needs said.
I bought it online and had some trouble getting it registered with RIDGID. Just a bit of an inconvenience.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jlewey much better than expected!
I put this grinder to task right away stripping two layers of paint off a full sized truck. Used a flap disc(do not use any lower than 80 grit) and wow! I put my weight on this thing and heavily abused it for over three hours straight and it shredded all layers to metal on half the bed, the cab, the hood , the fender ,and a couple smaller areas. Tough, cool looking, comfortable, and great price about sums it up. Tip:( if you just slightly depress the trigger lock and slightly pull the trigger you can feather the trigger and let go of the lock almost like variable speed which worked great for me as the full rpm would burn the sheetmetal).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dreamstorn Nice Tool Poor Warranty
Great tool, Knocked off 2 stars because the Lifetime Warranty is a Circus. Good luck jumping through all the hoops and certified mail stuff. You'd think they could confirm your purchase with your online order number, for a tool that is only available online and through Home Depot but nope. I doh't think they really want to provide the Lifetime Warranty.
The tool itself is awesome and really well balanced. It's a pleasure to use and has great quality.
Was going to switch to Rigid but no so sure anymore. Haven't had a problem with Craftsman tools and warranty service.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by AverageGuy Some nice features, bad execution
I generally find Ridgid tools to be a good compromise between quality and price. This grinder is a disappointment. While the size and location of the grip allow for ergonomic use, the trigger is impossible to use with one hand in some orientations. The trigger is difficult to use (especially lock button) and it is prone to jamming when grinding dusty material (even with air cleaning after each use). The small diameter handle is convenient, but in some orientations very hot air is blown out the vents directly on to my hand. So, hot than I have to stop grinding. It would be nice for the design engineers to take some field time with their products before putting them out.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Macdondressage Good for my small hands to use
This is the "almost" perfect grinder for me. I use it to trim my horses hooves. The safety button, a small button that you have to press to turn on trigger switch, is for right hand use. Makes it difficult to use with left hand. If that were better placed for right or left hand it would be perfect. It is powerful enough for my needs and seems well built. The small diameter hand hold is perfect for me and the trigger switch turns the grinder off instantly if needed. It is not too heavy and the balance is the best of all the grinders I tried.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good4U2 Wish I'd bought one of these a long time ago
I've only used it a couple of times to cut nails from salvaged hardwood flooring. I also used it cut off roofing nails from the eaves to run flexible bathroom fan vent pipes. Worked like a charm. The slim handle makes it comfortable to hold. The other brands I looked at all had much larger diameter handles that will be uncomfortable to use for an extended period. My only complaint so far is that the tool is very long but that is the case with most of the angle grinders. It was not easy getting it intoe the 8" eaves. Also, the trigger lock\release mechanism could be a little smoother to engage.
