Id like to know why the most ergonomic grinder Rigid made has been taken off the shelves at Home Depot? It was very easy on the hands to use and really powered through tough jobs. Id like to buy another one but they don't sell them elsewhere.

Customer Reviews

4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some nice features, bad execution I generally find Ridgid tools to be a good compromise between quality and price. This grinder is a disappointment. While the size and location of the grip allow for ergonomic use, the trigger is impossible to use with one hand in some orientations. The trigger is difficult to use (especially lock button) and it is prone to jamming when grinding dusty material (even with air cleaning after each use). The small diameter handle is convenient, but in some orientations very hot air is blown out the vents directly on to my hand. So, hot than I have to stop grinding. It would be nice for the design engineers to take some field time with their products before putting them out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best grinder I have ever used This grinder works just as good as the rest in the pile. I have makita's, dewalts and a few other Rigid versions. What makes this one stand out is the grip. WOW, this is by far the easiest grinder to hold on to and control that I have ever used. And I use them alot. I have about 20 hours of use out of this and am very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish I'd bought one of these a long time ago I've only used it a couple of times to cut nails from salvaged hardwood flooring. I also used it cut off roofing nails from the eaves to run flexible bathroom fan vent pipes. Worked like a charm. The slim handle makes it comfortable to hold. The other brands I looked at all had much larger diameter handles that will be uncomfortable to use for an extended period. My only complaint so far is that the tool is very long but that is the case with most of the angle grinders. It was not easy getting it intoe the 8" eaves. Also, the trigger lock\release mechanism could be a little smoother to engage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lifetime Warranty/ 3 years if not registered I teach high school welding classes, so needless to say my tools get put through the ringer. I bought 4 of these initially. 1 didn't last one day, and I took it in to get it replaced. The others seem to be handling ok, but sound kind of sketchy at times. My Students seem to like how it fits in their hands, but if you are bigger and have large hands this is pretty cramped together. I bought them for the warranty. If you buy through Home Depot and send in all the information, RIGID will issue a lifetime warranty, and in my line of work I don't have the money to replace and fix grinders all the time. So in all they are a little cheaply made, but if they are willing to back it up then it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool This grinder has the best balance of any that I have used. Less slip off and more control. Less wrist fatigue. The grip makes all the difference. Cord seems to stay out of the way better. Look forward to may years of hard use and well.... abuse. I'm sure it will take it, it is a Rigid.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking, if you can take the heat. I bought this unit to grind out seats on sculpted wooden chairs I build. It is very light, and easy to hold but you can not run it for more than a minute or so. It gets so hot it burns your hands. If you have really small child size hands, you may be okay with it. My hands are a little bigger than average size and I could not hold it due to the heat from the motor. I took it back the following day.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay but trigger lock got stuck in the on position Bought this the other day and used it for a bit until the trigger lock got jammed. At first, the "safety lock" position got jammed so it wasn't necessary to hold it in to pull the trigger. Eventually the the lock got jammed again so that I was unable to turn it off. I tried for over an hour pressing various combinations of the trigger and the lock switch to try and free the trigger but I was unsuccessful. I was able to bring it back and swap it out with no issue but when I brought the new one home it was missing the nut that holds the disc in place. Two strikes so far... I'll give it one more go.
