Worked great for a little over a year. Was satisfied until the rear bearing came apart, heated up and melted the plastic housing. Usage was intermittent. No where near what the useful life should have been. Brushes were hardly worn. Very disappointed in the life span. Also the motor vents blow hot air on the hand holding the device.

I own a welding shop and buy a lot of grinders. This is the third paddle / trigger switch grinder I have purchased and am trying this week.
Balance takes a little getting used to. , Trigger lock is annoying to get used to but you develop techniques. Thick welders gloves are a problem though. Other than that, it is a decent grinder.
Now, we'll see how well it performs after a bunch of heavy grinding days. A good grinder should last years. I have a 20 year old small paddle switch grinder that I am very pleased with because of it's longevity, design, performance, durability and reliability so I know a good grinder is possible.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by GuywithTools Some nice features, bad execution
I generally find Ridgid tools to be a good compromise between quality and price. This grinder is a disappointment. While the size and location of the grip allow for ergonomic use, the trigger is impossible to use with one hand in some orientations. The trigger is difficult to use (especially lock button) and it is prone to jamming when grinding dusty material (even with air cleaning after each use). The small diameter handle is convenient, but in some orientations very hot air is blown out the vents directly on to my hand. So, hot than I have to stop grinding. It would be nice for the design engineers to take some field time with their products before putting them out.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Macdondressage Good for my small hands to use
This is the "almost" perfect grinder for me. I use it to trim my horses hooves. The safety button, a small button that you have to press to turn on trigger switch, is for right hand use. Makes it difficult to use with left hand. If that were better placed for right or left hand it would be perfect. It is powerful enough for my needs and seems well built. The small diameter hand hold is perfect for me and the trigger switch turns the grinder off instantly if needed. It is not too heavy and the balance is the best of all the grinders I tried.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by MrMassic Lifetime Warranty/ 3 years if not registered
I teach high school welding classes, so needless to say my tools get put through the ringer. I bought 4 of these initially. 1 didn't last one day, and I took it in to get it replaced. The others seem to be handling ok, but sound kind of sketchy at times. My Students seem to like how it fits in their hands, but if you are bigger and have large hands this is pretty cramped together. I bought them for the warranty. If you buy through Home Depot and send in all the information, RIGID will issue a lifetime warranty, and in my line of work I don't have the money to replace and fix grinders all the time. So in all they are a little cheaply made, but if they are willing to back it up then it's worth it.
