Answer:
I wasted money on the number 5 locks. They are too short. Now I'll try a number or 9.
The Rigid rep is wrong or the QA on the boxes varies enough to make it guess work.

I just purchased a Ridgid job box and went through all kinds of different size Master locks and found the best fit is a # 8 Master Lock (M1XT). if only Home Depot would put the locks that go with this type of job box next to this item ;/ life would be so much more simplier ;)

Master Locks appear to be some of the worst. There are lots of Youtubes videos of people bumping, picking & drilling them open. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4we5IOM2BQE
Might want to try another brand that is more reliable such as Medeco with a 1" opening. Rigid made a deal with Master Lock but neither cares if your tools are stolen.

It calls for a #5 Master Lock--- this is WRONG---- get yourself two #9 Master locks, that have a 1" throat, and it works great. That's 1" when locked. 3/4 throat will be hard to open box, and 1 1/4 throat will not lock. Get you 2 #9's and you will be good to go!!

Answer:
Yes it does require a certain size lock. The loop of the lock while in locked condition must be 3/4 to 1" in space. The Master lock #5 at HD does not fit, though there are variations of it. I fount the Master Magnum Lock M1XT worked fine for me. HD has a two pack for about $15 with same key configuration.

Yes, it sits on a ridge inside the box. I thought about using some bolts to fasten mine in place at first. After I put a few things on the shelf and got it weighted down, I didn't worry about it again.

Answer:
yes, it sits on a ridge that is part of the box structure. if I wanted to make it permanent I think it would be easy to drill it and install sheet metal screws or bolts. With the weight of the tools and such I have sitting on the shelf I don't worry about it moving though.

Yes...it has feet which I bolted wheels to but I see lots of the job boxes bolted to the floor of the truck as well. Keep in mind this is 48" wide so the truck bed must accommodate that size...they do make a smaller version as well.

Answer:
It will fit in a FULL size truck Bed. I used those Ladder Cable locks (From HD) to lock it in. You can use those cargo style straps also to help keep it in place. Once you get tools and stuff in it , it tends to stay put from the weight. (Mine do) I use Weather Stripping to help keep the stuff inside dry. Works Great.

Yes you can I mounted mine with Carriage bolts and lock washers. There are several pre-drilled holes in the feet that will make it easy to add casters to it or mount it in the bed of the truck.

Answer:
There is no written instruction on how to bolt this on a truck bed. A common practice by end users that has this application is to position the box, mark the mounting holes, drill and then bolt it down.
We hope this helps.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Product Bought this to mount on my ATV trailer to store all my goodies for hunting, for the price you can not beat this box, very durable and sound. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good box but it came dented I like the box, but HD has a problem handling them. I followed the advice of other reviews and checked it before i left the store. Sure enough, dented, which prevented the locking mechanism from working correctly. Went through 2 more in the store before we found one. August 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Box! OK. I read ALL the reviews. Didn't take a chance with the recommended Master Locks. Went with the Master Lock M1XT - Home Depot SKU: # 144-883 $15.48 for two. PERFECT fit. Be sure to attach the locks with the two small U-Bolts that come zip-tied to the inside tray. And no one talked about anchoring the box ... You can use 3/8" x 3" Galvanized Carriage Bolts or 1/2" x 3" Galvanized Carriage Bolts - there are holes for both. I used 1/2" and put a single bolt in each of the 4 legs welded to the bottom. I was impressed with the thickness (gauge) of the metal - excellent. This is a great box for the money, and it's been recently reduced to $249 - an even better deal. AND you can get the military discount if you qualify. NOTE: with the lid fully open it requires about 49" from floor to top of lid (that's pretty close, if not exact). I put mine in the back of my old pickup with a camper shell. I'm going to use treated 4x6s to raise the camper shell 5.5" so I can get the lid all the way open. Easier than using a stick to prop it open each time, and more head room in my camper. Mine didn't have any dents, but come on guys - it's a TOOL box - it's meant to get banged around. August 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Great product, have plenty on room for all my tools, and nice rubber seal to keep the rain out. September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great box Strong box capable of being on busy construction site. Holds lots of stuff tray makes it easy to organize different tools . June 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very well built unit This unit is constructed very well. I know that it will give me many years of Service. This unit is a piece that can be handed down To your kids,if taken care of properly. I would recommend this product to friends And family June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really good product I bought this box and mounted it in concrete. The steel body is strong, particularly the lid. I was worried about that because many of the other brands I looked at were kind of cheap. The mechanism holds the lid up well when open, and the weather stripping is perfect. The paint finish is thick. The suggestion for the M1XT Masterlock was great. This lock really needs to be 1 inch when closed to work. The M1XT fills the recess for the latch well. I really wanted a 4 pack, but I found two packages with the same key code number giving me 4 altogether. I comparison shop, probably too much. Under $300 for this box is a bargain. I'm very happy with this purchase. June 22, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rigid 2048 Well.... Took me a whole day and 3 stores to find one that wasn't dented. I found one finally, took it home and affixed the recommended #5 master locks. Guess what? Yep one of the locking hooks is out of spec and it absolutely will not open. One side was sticky without the locks but now it's useless as I cannot get inside. 2 stars is generous being that it is of no use to me at all and considering how much time I've put into what should be a simple purchase. I like it better than the Klein but this is really aggravating! February 5, 2016
