Cam i use this router to cut for a door hinge. I want to use a jig and am curious if this will work with it.

Asked by: Azdaze
If the jig you are using uses a 1/4" router bit then , yes .. so if you use the correct bit and jig it should work fine, also it is very quite and would work good for indoors ( quietest router I have ever used ).

I have read that the Rigid Lifetime Service Agreement only applies to items purchased in the Home Depot stores. If I buy this online will I still be able to register for the LSA?
Asked by: Narddog
I have purchased Ridgid tools both online and in store, if the LSA applies to the tool you can register it. but online make sure that you save (print) the order with all the numbers you will need it :) , good luck

Can I use this router for cutting circles in 3/4 plywood ?
Asked by: Killdrum
I wouldnt , it is a bit small for that. You really need a larger router such as a plunge router to go through that thick of wood , this router is mostly for trim and laminate work.

I purchased this router to add an easy to use palm held router option to my router tool selection. The additional sheet sander sweetened the deal. Like others, I would appreciate a plunge base option so I'll have to use my big router for plunge routing. I also own the full size Ridgid router that doesn't offer the plunge base either. So I chose to go with the other "yellow" brand for plunge routing. Not too sure why Ridgid avoids plunge routing. But overall, this router performs very well and is very simple to adjust and change bits. The sander also works very nicely. I would buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sander - if you make your own Custom Sheets I see a lot of complaints about the clamps that hold the sandpaper. My clamps are very strong and they work great. I like the design. The problem is a standard 1/4 sheet is only 5.5 inches long. Therefore the paper is barely long enough to get the paper under the clamp, leaving you about 1/4 inch to divide on each side. It is very, very frustrating to try and divide about 1/4" (1/8" on each side) to allow at least some paper under the clamp. I resolved this problem by cutting my own sheets 4.5 x 6 inches. I even like to make it 6.25 inches which gives you plenty of length. DUST: You can punch holes by using the paper punch template included or a standard paper puncher which allows more dust to pull through to the dust collector bag. You can also connect a vacuum hose to the sander by removing the bag. This is a strong work horse with a frustrating paper (clamp) issue. Make these adjustments and you have a great tool I wore out my runner pad, but easily ordered three replacements to have on hand. If Ridgid make a longer sheet for this sander I would sure like to know where to get them.

It's to big and bulky for a sheetrock trimmer, I have big hands and its hard to hold on a off angle and have it trip then reset and keep going. On the positive side I like the way its build and the quality so If you are doing light work its could be great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EXACT same issue as @handyman123 I bought this router on sale a couple of months ago. The good: it's a great little router - time will tell how long the brushes/bearings last vs. the DeWalt trimmer I operate on my CNC machine. The bad: Exact same issue as @Handyman123 describes below - Ridgid were unable to recognize my purchase for warranty registration purposes (yet they were able to recognize/acknowledge my purchase of the Ridgid Spindle Sander I bought a couple of days later). I called the 'help'line (which was anything but), and no dice. I too own (to this point) a a number of other Ridgid products (12" mitre saw, table saw, various sanders & cordless drills), and this one experience was enough to completely turn me off the brand. No more Ridgid products for me, thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome set I originally purchased the router separately in-store but returned it to buy this kit instead. You can't beat the free sander. I love both tools. The router rips through all my projects with ease and the sander is easy to use and beats sanding by hand. The only issue I have is they do not give you a carrying case for either tool and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra if they both came with cases.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product performs well but has some issues The sand paper clamps gave out quickly. The sand paper slip out of the clamps easily. Made sand frustrating. The power on and off button in a poor place. I constantly turned the power off while griping the sander. It would be better suited somewhere not on the palm portion of the sander. When the paper stayed on and I did not inadvertently turn the sander off. The sander did a fine job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liked it enough we purchased a second one We have used our first Ridgid laminate router for two plus years, bringing it to Mexico where we work as volunteers building wood furnishings for Salones del Reino in an eight state area. It is solidly built, easy to micro adjust and comfortable to use. We decided to bring another down to Mexico on a recent stateside trip. It had the bonus sander included. One thing I am beginning to appreciate about 1/4 sheet sanders- it, as well as many of its competitor's, has a small plastic adapter to punch holes into the sheet after the sheet is installed on the sander. While we have more or less converted to 5' random orbit sanders (we have three Ridgid models) we cannot always find the disks WITH the 8 hole pattern. Hence, the sanders work, but no dust collection. This is where the 1/4 sheet sanders excel- you always have the capacity for dust collection working. One flaw- while the Ridgid tools can be registered online for the LSA (Lifetime Service Agreement) they did not allow such on the sander.....
