Rated 5 out of 5Â by webberkl A great investment at an affordable price.
Started on the first pull and every first pull after that. Powered my home's basics for 4 days straight during a power outage caused by the recent ice storm in SC. It ran flawlessly. My family was even able to have a hot bath every day. It's a great investment that I believe will pay off for many years to come. The only thing I would improve is the Gensmart monitoring system which is a great feature, but it doesn't monitor the load on the 240/25 amp twist lock connection. That would definitely be a plus when it comes to safety and takes the guess work out of overloading the unitâ¦. â¦.If I was to do all over again, and if available, I would upgrade to the 6800 model. Overall the 5700 is an excellent unit at a great price.

TOOK MY UNIT OUT OF THE BOX, ADDED OIL & GAS, AND IT STARTED FIRST PULL.
TOOK GENERATOR TO MY SON'S HOUSE WHICH WAS OUT OF POWER FOR TWO DAYS (ICE STORM IN SC). GOT BASIC POWER BACK TO THE HOUSE SAVING ALOT OF THE KIDS EXPENSIVE SALT WATER FISH AND OF COURSE FOOD. WE RAN THE UNIT FOR 48 STRAIGHT HOURS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS!
GREAT FEELING TO HAVE LIGHTS AND POWER BACK AND NOT HAVING TO BUY A CHEAP GENERATOR!
GENERATORS SHOULD COME WITH THE 30 AMP EXTENSION CORD BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EASILY AVAILABLE.

This may be premature since i have only run it a half hour but i was so pleased with the initial startup and testing i had to share. This tool has a very sturdy frame and a nice finish as well as good hardware. The wheels have bearings and positioned perfectly for good balance making moving it a breeze, but pulling it works much better than pushing through the grass.
Lean it up using a funnel and the oil goes right in no prob. I put in one whole quart and when i set it back down it appeared to be completely full but none ran out. I called it good enough. It started on one easy pull, i flipped the choke off and it ran smooth and uninterupted for 35 minutes.
The Watt meter is awsome and was a big reason for selecting this unit. The ability to monitor volts and cycles and draw by cycling through the readout is a BIG plus. The volts didnt drop below 121 at 3100 watts load and the cyles were at 61. They were at 125 and 62.5 at no load. Knowing the Yamaha name and the Ridgid name this tool should be around for a while.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Allen Let me down big time!
I bought this generator for a small but time sensitive project. (builder's model home center) It ran flawlessly for 2 days but on the 3rd day, 6 hours into the day it just quit. (yes, I checked the oil and gas) There was 4 hours of the work day left. That equals 16 man hours lost that day! (4 men times 4 hours). Thanks Rigid for making me look so bad!
I have a Rigid 6800 watt generator at home that ran for 2 days before it started leaking gas and started running poorly. It had to be shipped all the way to Atlanta Ga for repair. It was gone for 3 weeks. It is my home emergency backup power source . I'm going to sell it and go with Generac.

Bought it from Home Depot on 11/17/2013 when our power went out. I've been running it for 3 days straight with no problems whatsoever. Some people indicated problems with the gas cap. I believe the problem must have been corrected, because mine runs perfect 24-7. One major annoyance I have noticed is the wattage meter does not indicate how many watts are being used when using the 220V connector - it only reads wattage when using the 110V, which is a little disappointing. But still works fantastic. Runs our house without any problems. Tires are solid rubber, so they won't run out of air. My wife has no problems starting it on the first pull.
