The back blade stopped turning with less than 8 hours of use. New blades did NOT help. Had to return.

OK. A little background on what I do. I am not just a homeowner or DIY'er. I am a construction professional by trade and I do this for a living. It supports my family and me and is not just a hobby
As a renovator and builder I have accumulated a lot of tools that are right for the job. In spite of all of those tools there are still some tools that have not been economically feasible to purchase because of the relatively few amount of jobs that they will be used on. The Ridgid has filled that gap quite nicely. I can now cut the aluminium plate that was difficult before as well as steel trim, downspouts, sink openings in counter-tops, and so many other things without ever having to fetch another tool or change the setup on a tool. This saw is **not** a replacement for an angle grinder or a regular 7-1/4” circular saw. It should be used in cases where an ordinary circular saw can’t be used and/or when a full-size 14-inch saw is too big. So it’s not always a replacement for your larger tools, but it is definitely an enhancement to the capabilities of a circular saw, a jig saw, a chop saw, an angle grinder and numerous hand tools. Today I cut a solid steel bar that was 3/4" thick and 3" wide into several pieces. The saw cut it with ease and left the cut surface smooth, shiny and burr-less. I made the mistake of buying the larger Dual saw CS650 6 inch saw before this because I wanted extra capacity and wow what an under-powered piece of junk. It doesn’t even cut one sheet of ½” plywood without bogging out to the point of almost getting stalled. This saw has much more power than the Dual saw and even though I did bog it down some it never wanted to stall out like the Dual saw did. I have tried all of the advertised capabilities of the Ridgid and have found them to be completely accurate. The next step up would be a 9" dual blade saw with 4200 RPM and a **minimum** of FOUR horsepower.

What a very versatile piece of equipment. I was amazed at the quick cutting speed and how this small saw handles! Three others on the job site went and got them one after using mine

The most amazing thing about this saw is how easy it is to control, there is no kick back and no pressure. When it arrived I took it out in the garage and tried it on everything I could find. A few weeks later I was using it to cut through some wood with aluminum reinforcement and steel tee nuts, perfect tool for the job.
Not having a base on the saw makes it a little difficult to keep the cut at 90 degrees or any angle in wood or plywood but in 1/8" mild steel plate it was easy to follow a line. Controlling depth takes some practice also. The nicest thing about cutting mild steel with this saw is there is no shower of sparks like when using abrasive cut off wheels, the noise is about the same with either tool.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fabricator Very good for cutting aluminum. Makes clean and quick cuts.
Plunge cuts and cuts both ways just as promised. Only complaint is it is hard to cut straight. Best saw I've tried for cutting aluminum.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Carl better than the nationally advertised original.
This saw cut through 5/16 threaded rod faster than a diegrinder with a cut off wheel.
I also used it to cut sections out of a large automotive hood and it did that with ease. I am seriously considering buying 2 more.

This small saw has surprising power. Solidly built. Takes a little getting used to but worth the effort.
