Rated 5 out of 5 by This thing is awesome! I found this tool in a storage shed on the property of my home when I bought it. Little did I know at the time that there would soon be a use for it and probably the reason the previous home owner had it to begin with. Thanks for leaving this amazing tool behind for me to use. I recently had issues with what seemed like a clogged toilet that was also leaking beneath the toilet at the floor seal (wax ring). While using a plunger to no avail I remembered this cool looking auger tool in my shed. After just a brief bit of web research I realized what it was and immediately retrieved it. Almost as soon as I started using the K6 I hit an obstruction. After much work and a good bit of time I was finally able to penetrate the line beneath the toilet with the full length of the auger but then while trying to extract it I found that it was stuck on something. I immediately started applying much more force all the while continuing to turn the handle. After a good 15-20 minutes I felt something give and was finally able to extract it from the toilet. Much to my surprise out came a very large tangled clump of roots that was approximately 18" long and nearly the thickness of the inside diameter if the the sewer line at one end. I'm amazed that this toilet was even partially working at times with this huge mass of roots in the line. What I'm even more amazed at is how well the K6 did at extracting this thing without doing anything to my toilet. I would highly recommend this very well thought out and extremely well constructed tool to anyone regardless of the price. Very well worth the money and now that I know how easy it made the task at hand for me I would probably pay twice that much for it knowing all well that it can take whatever you put it through. My K6 auger now has a new home in the front of my workshop mounted on the wall like a trophy waiting for the next time I need rescuing from the nasty sewer line root monster. Thanks for an awesome tool! Regards, Don June 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Came apart on 2nd use We are having trouble with an upstairs toilet clogging. Purchased the K-6 to get further into the drain to make sure it was clear. The auger is easy enough to use for the first 3 feet but was a little tricky to get the button to click to extend the next 3 feet. Worked okay the first time (2 weeks ago). Today after extending the second 3 feet, the snake (coil) came completely out of the body - the button is supposed to hold at the bottom, but obviously didn't. That leads to 2 problems; 1. you now have to pull the snake out by hand and try to reattach it to the body 2. your toilet will be scratched to heck as the steel snake is now in direct contact with the visible portion of the bowl. So, I'm basically out a bunch of money as I'm not about to walk into Home Depot with this used product to return it. Maybe buy the 3' if you need it or better yet, spend the money on a good plumber. Rated 5 out of 5 by An essential item This piece of equipment is a life-saver. Since purchasing it, I've not had to pay a professional once. It is big enough to reach from our upstairs toilet to the main stack if there's a blockage, as well as going through our basement toilet into the sewer when tree roots block the sewer pipe. The only thing you should be very careful about is when you extend it, and then later try to retract the extension - we had one time where we very nearly pushed the extension the wrong way (into the toilet) and lost it. It is sturdy, though, and doesn't damage or mark the porcelain if used properly. February 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by a real solution. SO EXCITED to find a tool that is heavy duty and works and will last. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this so you no longer have to spend your valuable time worried about how to unclog your low flow toilet, what you'll do when your low flow toilet clogs YET AGAIN and if you're going to have get the plumber, or for me, callng the landlord who will want us to pay for his poor toilet choice. It makes no nevermind now boys and girls--this product WORKS. Do not futz around with anything else. It's a little tricky with the extension and the retracting but stay calm and everything will be fine. After a few goes it will be easier and easier. I hope the creators of this product are millionaires. They actually deserve to be. March 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved me from having to replace a toilet Bought a Kohler class 6 flush toilet and had it installed. However the toilet wouldn't flush waste a 5 out of 6 times. Plunging, hot buckets of water and to no avail. Then purchaed the 6ft versions of this auger. Watched the video... do watch the video Search for this video RIDGID K-6 Toilet Auger. It's worth the time. The ran it twice and came out with fibers and wax from the old seal that the installer had probably pushed into the waste line that was preventing a good flush. needed the six foot version to get to obstruction though. Now the toilet works like a charm. This thing is so good that I'm going to use it instead of the plungers that don't work well anyway. Pricey but worth every penny. November 9, 2013
