Answer:
Yes. Grasp the ears on the element with your finger tips and pull the filter off the white center stud. The end cap of the element is soft foam rubber and the hole in it stretches over the white center stud to hold the element in place.

They snap in and are supposed to be somewhat loose. They are looser than I would like but seem to stay in so far. But once you or someone loses a caster it gets tipsy. I am returning mine due to not enough power for what I need it for.

Below is the instruction if still doesn’t work on your end.
On the bottom of the caddy, there are two holes. This is where the wheels should go into. I suggest you try to assemble the caster to the caddy first before attaching the foot to the bottom of the drum. This would allow you to apply more pressure when pressing it together. You need to insert the metal stem of caster wheel into the center hole and push on it until it snaps all the way inside the socket. You will hear a popping sound as a sign that the caster is already locked in place. You can also use a rubber mallet to assemble the caster to the foot.

Answer:
Sitka spruce needles, cone scales and even cones were easily sucked up when I used the 6 gal version. Larger cones and big wads of wet scales can clog the hose at the 90 degree bend at the vac but unclogging takes seconds.

Answer:
Do not recommend a vacuum for pine needles. Typically the needles are too long and clog up the hose on any vacuum. Better to sweep or blow needles.

The vac can be used for picking up pine needles by using the VF5000 or VF6000 filters sold at Home Depot stores. We highly recommend checking the filter more often to make sure it is not sustaining any damage especially during use.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 324 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Price/Quality I bought this just for renovation and ended using it as my regular vaccum. Is 10X time better than my Dyson, is also 1/5 the price. It work very very well. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Product Size This shopvac was a great size for me.....not so large as to be unwieldy but not so small as to be insufficient. The only problem I encountered was trying to put the caster wheels in......I had to use a hammer. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value This is a light weight vac that does the job. You may think about how much cord length you will need, as I needed to purchase an industrial extension cord. Also wish the hose was longer for reaching higher spaces, but gets the job done and easy to use with wheels on the canister. Good value for the money. August 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't suck up an ant It's well made. That's where the positive ends. There's almost no suction. It's a vac... that's all it does. How can it have so little of the only thing it does? As a lay person trying to figure out what one's needs are, the supporting data and stats doesn't really mean much. I want a do-over. August 29, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Little Sucker This replaced a larger 12 gallon. It works ok but the suction is not to strong to me maybe I am use to my bigger size. I do Not like the size of the hose 1 7/8'' . My 12 gallon had a 2 1/2'' hose. The problem is the hose being to small it only picks up small stuff. It would be good for light vacuuming but if want suction power like the Car Wash , Get a 12 or 16 gallon. When they label something a 6 gallon you would think that would mean it holds 6 gallons but that is without the powerhead on so yes it is a 6 gallon vacuum that holds 4 .I also do not like the hose length, Too short.I will return this one and go for the bigger size so I am not fighting the hose when something is too big to fit. Like most everything Ridgid makes, I Do Not like that this is Made In China. My old Ridgid pipe wrenches are Made In USA and still going from the 70s... August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Has been a reliable wet-dry vac for me I've owned this for a little over a year and I've been happy with it. I work on my car in the garage very often and this as been my main vac. I've been happy with it and can honestly say the suction power is plenty for my needs. Though, if you're doing heavy-duty work you may want to upgrade to a more power model. My only complaint is that the lid has popped off a few times while moving it around causing dust and debris to fly around. I wish it would stay on better! March 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shop Vac Awesomeness I find this to be highly rated because it's strong with multiple uses. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A good shop vac This is a quality product for a decent price. It gets the job done for our purposes. August 16, 2016
