Questions & Answers

Can I cut 24" porcelain w/ this saw?

I need a saw that can handle 24" porcelain tile. Will this saw be able to handle it? I don't need to do many cuts, but I think extra blades will be needed. What spare blades should I choose?
Asked by: CozKaren
Yes, I cut 36 inch by 6 inch porcelain floor tile. It does take extra effort once the tile hits the far side of the blade as it is cutting with two edges of the blade at that point and any slight misalignment of the cut means extra pressure and caution. The better the cut is aligned the less effort in making a lengthwise cut.

Can you rip 3/4 hardwood

If the 7in diamond blade is replaced with a 6 1/2" 40T, with shopvac set up to drain plug. Is the amp capacity capable
Asked by: breezy
Yeah..... no. The saw is not designed for this and will vibrate itself to death and/or overheat and/or just die. And that's assuming there is enough power and torque to keep the blade moving once a cut is started, which I doubt. Use the money you would have spent on the blade and buy yourself a real saw. Use a used tool venue if necessary.

Blade too close to table surface?

I just got this saw, and when assembling it, the blade appears to rub against the left (fixed) side of the table surface. It seems like there's a spacer or something missing, or the saw is horribly misaligned with the table surface, but I don't see any way to adjust it. I have the inner washer, blade, outer washer, and then finally the nut on the arbor. From the manual, that looks like the only things that belong on there. Any thoughts on what might be wrong would be appreciated, because I really need to get to work on this bathroom floor.
Asked by: jeaton
Mine rubbed the right side lid to tank. Had to file the aluminum a bit. The left side has to much space. The Blade is thinner than most tile blades, and if you set the guide on the right side the blade will weep to the left and gives an inaccurate cut. I went to buy a new blade as it started to chip the tile. The only blade made by Rigid offered at HD wont fit the machine, and the instructions say do not use a thicker blade! Had to take it back. Problematic machine.

Can you cut glass tiles with this saw?

Asked by: Mona
Yes, however... glass, or glass glazed tiles will generate a bunch of tiny shards of glass. Wear eye protection, rubber gloves, and have a bucket half filled with water to rinse off the glass shards before handling them without gloves. When I started this project, my fingertips and my feet were bleeding (a little, not gross!). I couldn't figure out why, since I hadn't touched the blade, until I pulled out a tiny shard, which unplugged the tiny hole, and blood started coming out.

I considered renting instead, but I didn't know how long the job would take me (3 days of renting = the price to purchase, plus I would have had to lug a larger saw than I really needed back and forth.) Since I also plan to replace a bathroom floor in the near future, I decided to purchase this one because I liked the design of the table top's deep ridges. Purchased it Saturday morning and completed installing the backsplash the next morning. (I'm a perfectionist) Easy to set up and it made nice clean cuts on my thick subway tiles. Placed it on my outdoor dining table, which was a great height. Very easy to clean. Couldn't have been happier! The only negative is that I didn't pay the $99.00 sale price other reviewers paid!

After disassembling the blade I found that it was not on the arbor correctly. After reassembly, it worked perfectly. It has plenty of power and I never stalled the motor. I installed 12x12 ceramic tile on my kitchen floor with no problems. This is the largest tile I would cut with this saw. I moved the fence towards me and the tile wobbled on the edge. It did not cause any issues and cut the tile with out chipping. It did spray water on the front of me but not to bad. You need to keep the water reservoir filled because it does use the water!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good wet saw for the homeowner I highly recommend this saw for the price if your going to cut a lot of tile and will be cheaper than renting one. I was able to cut enough porcelain tile for two bathrooms covering approximately 250 square feet. The fence is strong and doesn't move when clamped down and running tile against. I have cross cut and rip cut using the fence and free hand 31 inch wood looking porcelain tile with ease. I don't know how well the factory blade is that comes with the saw since I purchased a diamond blade and installed it instead. It holds water for long periods of time. I would recommend draining the water from the reservoir when not in use so you don't risk the blade rusting. Unlike the Qep yellow colored wet saw you have to constantly fill the reservoir with water and is cheaply made. Ryobi has an excellent warranty and is very well built.

I am now sold on RIDGID products (first RIDGID purchase) after purchasing and using this 7" wet saw. I put this wet saw through the ringer and it looks as new and clean (after cleaning) as the day it was purchased. Quick to set up, very easy to clean. The fence is very durable and locks down to position. The clear guard keeps water contained...no mess. The top surface is smooth and allows the tile to move freely. I placed this on a table top and it held position. The blade that came with it lasted the entire job cutting 13" tile floor, around the soaking tube and entire shower area. I purchased this from Home Depot for $189 on 11/5/16. Now on sale for $99 (a steal of a deal). Either price I still would have paid for this wet saw. My first RIDGID tool and will not be my last. Excellent product.

When the arbor nut is tightened to secure the outer washer against the cutting wheel the blade rubs against the deck and won't turn. Called Ridgid customer service and described the issue and they sent a seal arbor piece that they said was missing (took 3 weeks to arrive). Installed the piece and it still didn't work - blade is bound up. After a month of messing with this I'm giving up and returning it to the store. Save yourself the hassle and buy another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rigid 7" wet saw II tiled my daughter 1200 sq-ft basement with a lot of rooms and closets. I am glad I bought this 7" Rigid in lieu of of several others in the same rice range. It works perfectly. It has enough power and the included blade is still sharp after over 100 cuts. There's a minor issue about the 30 degree cut. It's not accurate. It could be me. I must take time to study it after this job. Another problem is the old Rigid calendars that my daughter 80+ old neighbor has in his basement. My wife saw them on previous visits and paid no attention. She now accuses me of buying Rigid in hope to get one. That is so not true, especially I am in position to prevent them in workplace.
