Customer Questions & Answers

Can I cut 24" porcelain w/ this saw?

I need a saw that can handle 24" porcelain tile. Will this saw be able to handle it? I don't need to do many cuts, but I think extra blades will be needed. What spare blades should I choose?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, I cut 36 inch by 6 inch porcelain floor tile. It does take extra effort once the tile hits the far side of the blade as it is cutting with two edges of the blade at that point and any slight misalignment of the cut means extra pressure and caution. The better the cut is aligned the less effort in making a lengthwise cut.

Blade too close to table surface?

I just got this saw, and when assembling it, the blade appears to rub against the left (fixed) side of the table surface. It seems like there's a spacer or something missing, or the saw is horribly misaligned with the table surface, but I don't see any way to adjust it. I have the inner washer, blade, outer washer, and then finally the nut on the arbor. From the manual, that looks like the only things that belong on there. Any thoughts on what might be wrong would be appreciated, because I really need to get to work on this bathroom floor.

Mine rubbed the right side lid to tank. Had to file the aluminum a bit. The left side has to much space. The Blade is thinner than most tile blades, and if you set the guide on the right side the blade will weep to the left and gives an inaccurate cut. I went to buy a new blade as it started to chip the tile. The only blade made by Rigid offered at HD wont fit the machine, and the instructions say do not use a thicker blade! Had to take it back. Problematic machine.

I considered renting instead, but I didn't know how long the job would take me (3 days of renting = the price to purchase, plus I would have had to lug a larger saw than I really needed back and forth.) Since I also plan to replace a bathroom floor in the near future, I decided to purchase this one because I liked the design of the table top's deep ridges. Purchased it Saturday morning and completed installing the backsplash the next morning. (I'm a perfectionist) Easy to set up and it made nice clean cuts on my thick subway tiles. Placed it on my outdoor dining table, which was a great height. Very easy to clean. Couldn't have been happier! The only negative is that I didn't pay the $99.00 sale price other reviewers paid!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would recommend this saw for any do it yourselfer.... I would recommend this saw for any do it yourselfer. After assembling the saw the blade wobbled. After disassembling the blade I found that it was not on the arbor correctly. After reassembly, it worked perfectly. It has plenty of power and I never stalled the motor. I installed 12x12 ceramic tile on my kitchen floor with no problems. This is the largest tile I would cut with this saw. I moved the fence towards me and the tile wobbled on the edge. It did not cause any issues and cut the tile with out chipping. It did spray water on the front of me but not to bad. You need to keep the water reservoir filled because it does use the water!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from High expectations but disappointing results I have a lot of tools and use them on a daily basis. I'm appreciative of the fact that not all tools are created equal and sometimes you need to spend more money for tools in order to achieve the results your require for a given task. So that being said I purchased this saw to cut 20 cases of 3x12 subway tiles for a bathroom remodel. Now I wasn't expecting the saw to cut 2' X 4' porcelain floor tiles. I have the" Beast " for that task. 1st thing I noticed when putting this saw together was the aluminum table top was very rough and this is where the issues started and ended. When attempting to slide the tile into the blade (with or without the fence or miter gauge (all great features) the tiles grabbed on the table top, making it near impossible to move. I tried to cut the tiles with smooth side down but the rough surface marked and scratched the glossy tiles. In addition this rough surface made it near impossible to make thin slices, as,when you attempted to slide the tile it would catch and chatter, causing the tile to break. Now I tried different textured tiles but the issue persisted and actually became worse as the table surface became rougher the more tiles were fed through the blade. I purchased this saw specific for small tiles and tight indoor work spaces. I do think this saw offers great features and appeared to have excellent build quality. I was disappointed to return this saw as I had great expectations. If it had a smooth table top than I'm sure I'd still be slicing tiles with a smile on my customers face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good wet saw for the homeowner I highly recommend this saw for the price if your going to cut a lot of tile and will be cheaper than renting one. I was able to cut enough porcelain tile for two bathrooms covering approximately 250 square feet. The fence is strong and doesn't move when clamped down and running tile against. I have cross cut and rip cut using the fence and free hand 31 inch wood looking porcelain tile with ease. I don't know how well the factory blade is that comes with the saw since I purchased a diamond blade and installed it instead. It holds water for long periods of time. I would recommend draining the water from the reservoir when not in use so you don't risk the blade rusting. Unlike the Qep yellow colored wet saw you have to constantly fill the reservoir with water and is cheaply made. Ryobi has an excellent warranty and is very well built.
