Customer Questions & Answers

Can this model make bevel cuts?

Asked by: Anonymous
The saw does bevel cut. you must raise the saw head by adjusting the plunge cut depth and check blade clearance when table passes under the blade. The blade must be below the table surface , but not contacting the table. Re adjust as necessary.

The specs on this saw list porcelain, glass, ceramic and pavers, will this saw cut through marble tile?

The online specs show this wet saw cuts procelain, glass, ceramic and paver tiles. It does not show that it cuts marble tile. I have 12"x12" marble tile to install in a bathroom floor. Will this saw cut through marble tile? If so- will I need to purchase a different saw blade or will the one that comes with the saw work on marble?

The blade and arbor nut can be moved with your fingers in a lateral way and you can hear and feel the run out. When the saw slows down you can see the blade wobble. I can not imagine how bad the run out would be after heavy usage. The bevel produces a perfect edge on the scrap side of beveled tiles, the side you would use is garbage. Turned it over to cut, but the result was the cut was perfect on back and garbage on front. Straight cuts are ok with some visible imperfections in cut line. So if you want to pay 297.00 for a saw that works about as well as one for 89.00, then this is the saw for you.

Tilting head for mitre cuts seals the deal for me. lightweight and easy to move around. Drain is in a terrible place. Every other wetsaw I have ever owned has a plug in the center of the bottom of the tray. Put a bucket under it and pull the plug. This has a side drain that screws in with a washer to stop the water. Water gets everywhere, sprays as you are unscrewing it and drains all over the stand and floor. but it cuts great.

I have used a number of tile saws before and this one surpassed all expectations. It was easy to assemble, and on the joist worked like a charm. I used it on 6 jobs so far and it runs like a champ.

Have been using it for about 3 weeks now cutting slate tile and it's been performing fine. The included blade slices through easily and cleanly. The laser isn't "dead on"- but I imagine could be adjusted (didn't take the time to do so as I really wouldn't use it anyway). The only complaint I have (and it's a minor one), is that the drain plug on the side of the pan is right next to one of the legs on the stand- you can't drain the water into a bucket without spilling all over. Working outside that's not an issue. But I'm working inside. Would have preferred it on the underside of the pan or at one end. All my power tools seem to be turning orange.

I bought this saw to hopefully cut cleaner lines in 12" x12" ceramic tile compared to the QEP score-n-snap thing I have now. I also needed to be able to cut 45° bevel angles once in a while to make my corners look good (especially outside corners). Assembly was easy, and the first cut I made I noticed it was not aligned from the factory (the table and the saw blade.) but easy enough to fix with a 5mm allen wrench (not provided) and a square. The built in laser light is handy too, even though it's not advertised on the box. I tried the "bevel" or 45° cut next and I was surprised how much chipping there was on the side of the tile I wanted to keep. The other side (for inside corners) was perfect. I tried cutting my bevels with the finished side down and it came out a little better, although the corner chipped each time. This isn't really the tile cutter's fault but just be prepared to deal with it. The only other thing I wasn't expecting was how messy it is. Water EVERYWHERE. Do not try to use this inside like I did. There's spray out the back from the blade, lots of dripping from the tray as you approach the end of a cut (it reaches past the edge of the table) and just general mist in the air. My floor, wall and window are soaked, almost flooded from just a few test cuts. USE EAR PROTECTION, it is very loud. Your bathroom tile isn't worth losing your hearing over.

The previous portable saw I had couldn't handle the job. This model passed the test in flying colors. I like that the table is set up for easy cross-cuts on 24 in. tiles where you can just put the tile against the front ridge on the table, then slide it forward for a perfect straight cut. The motor is powerful and cut this hard 3/8 in. think tile easily and smoothly. I think comparable tile saws cost closer to $600 and up, so this was a good investment. I'd recommend this machine to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised I bought this saw to cut some large format tiles for a bathroom project. Setup was easy but check all the bolts. I had some loose ones and had some binding of the slider portion but was able to tune it out. Saw works great and cuts straight. It really made the job go quickly. Some complained about the pump and I did have some issues. When I set up fresh for the day the pump didn't seem to work at first so I took off the part where the hose goes into the pump and turned the saw on. I'm guessing that the pump just needs a little priming. Laser is more of a guide than anything. It ranges from thin to fat but I found it helpful when trying to line up cuts that weren't square. It doesn't seem to be adjustable. It's a great tile saw.

The cams on the feed tray are somewhat finicky. Adjustments needed to be made periodically to keep the tray squared (it moved 1/8" over time). Aside from this, the saw cuts well, the laser guide is a nice feature, the water pump works well, the blade had no issue cutting 3/8" thick x 24" long slate, the stand is sturdy, and the saw cleans up easily. I would recommend this product.
