Customer Questions & Answers

Can this model make bevel cuts?

Asked by: Anonymous
The saw does bevel cut. you must raise the saw head by adjusting the plunge cut depth and check blade clearance when table passes under the blade. The blade must be below the table surface , but not contacting the table. Re adjust as necessary.

The specs on this saw list porcelain, glass, ceramic and pavers, will this saw cut through marble tile?

The online specs show this wet saw cuts procelain, glass, ceramic and paver tiles. It does not show that it cuts marble tile. I have 12"x12" marble tile to install in a bathroom floor. Will this saw cut through marble tile? If so- will I need to purchase a different saw blade or will the one that comes with the saw work on marble?

Can you plunge cut with this? Or does the blade just slide back and forth?

Asked by: Anonymous
the saw head pivots or can be locked in place for normal cutting. the table slides for normal cutting. plunge cut for register cuts ect

Takes some time to dial in for accuracy but once it is set you are good to go. Make several cuts on throw away tiles first to ensure that the blade is worked in and that it is cutting exact. I used old bathroom tiles that were extras from another job.

It got me through my bathroom job cutting 12x24 and 6x24 tiles. Yes it sprays water all around the place well beyond the holding tray. Bigger the tile more overspray. It sure worked better than my old table top tile saw. Overall satisfied.

I bought this saw to hopefully cut cleaner lines in 12" x12" ceramic tile compared to the QEP score-n-snap thing I have now. I also needed to be able to cut 45° bevel angles once in a while to make my corners look good (especially outside corners). Assembly was easy, and the first cut I made I noticed it was not aligned from the factory (the table and the saw blade.) but easy enough to fix with a 5mm allen wrench (not provided) and a square. The built in laser light is handy too, even though it's not advertised on the box. I tried the "bevel" or 45° cut next and I was surprised how much chipping there was on the side of the tile I wanted to keep. The other side (for inside corners) was perfect. I tried cutting my bevels with the finished side down and it came out a little better, although the corner chipped each time. This isn't really the tile cutter's fault but just be prepared to deal with it. The only other thing I wasn't expecting was how messy it is. Water EVERYWHERE. Do not try to use this inside like I did. There's spray out the back from the blade, lots of dripping from the tray as you approach the end of a cut (it reaches past the edge of the table) and just general mist in the air. My floor, wall and window are soaked, almost flooded from just a few test cuts. USE EAR PROTECTION, it is very loud. Your bathroom tile isn't worth losing your hearing over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Saw... for the price I have used this saw for several projects now and I think it does most things pretty well. It does have a few issues. First, the table wobbles.. a lot! Not a big deal if you are cutting small tile, but it's pretty dicey on rip cuts and tiles larger than 12". It is just the way the table rolls. Not an assembly issue. The other issue I have is with the stand. There just are enough height adjustments to make for comfortable work, so I prop it up on some 2x4's to save my back. And yes, it does spray water every where, but, the pump has an adjustment, so if you are working with relatively soft materials or small tiles, you can turn the dial down and it is not nearly as messy. Bottom line is, it is a good tool for the price. Beats having to pay for rental everytime you think of a project. I will definitely pay more next time for something with a more steady table.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good Cut straight right out of the box. The laser isn't accurate. It lines up at start of cut so it's not that big of deal. The only real problem is the saw head should be spring loaded up to make plunge cuts easier. All the bad reviews I read were about water spray but hay it's water on a wheel spinning at 6000 RPM it's to be expected!!! Overall great saw even on porcelain tile no chipping.

I used this saw to cut 1/2 inch thick white travertine tile for a pool deck. The tile is similar to limestone so it is on the softer side. The saw performed very well on this material. The only weakness I would mention is the miter fence attachment which clamps onto the slide with a set screw - it is neither sturdy or of good design. Otherwise a very good tool.

Set up is pretty easy, just take a second to read the directions. (If you don't and have trouble don't rate the saw poorly for it.) After set up I added water and made a few cut. The blade that comes with it cut my ceramic like a hot knife through butter. Some people say that the laser is not accurate or squared but there are adjustments for it (read directions) The mitre guide is pretty so-so I will say that. It has some play in it and if you over tighten then it is not level. It is usable but you have to baby it. I have rented the "better" tables from HD and this one stands up to the rentals (which have seen a lot of use) Would I buy this if I was in the business of tiling and was going to use it every day, no. I would definitely pay up some. But for the weekend warrior or the flipper (like me) that will use it for a house and then not use again for weeks or months then it is the perfect fit.

I have used a number of tile saws before and this one surpassed all expectations. It was easy to assemble, and on the joist worked like a charm. I used it on 6 jobs so far and it runs like a champ.
