Rated 5 out of 5Â by Scoop Great product; great warranty
I received a Rigid wet/dry vac for a gift several years ago and used it for home cleanup projects and maintenance. It always performed well and was easy to use. When it finally stopped working, I had planned to replace it with the same model. When I realized it came with a lifetime warranty, it was a bonus. Cashing in on the warranty was easy and I had my new wet/dry vac within a week.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by SanctimoniousSteve Ridgid is too Rigid
The hose I mean. I had a shop vac before I bought this and the hose was much more maneuverable. Ridgid's hose is too stiff, I felt like I was wresting not vacuuming.
Not to mention it wouldn't even suck up a small nail...not with the utility nozzle attachment that came with it, and barely when I placed the hose directly over the nail without the nozzle on.
I had heard good things about these vacs... too bad. I'll be taking this one back today. Totally unacceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DSChamber Great vac....
My old Shop-vac gave up on me after 15 years of reliable service. It was a smaller 5 gallon one so rather than try and see what was the matter with it I decided to buy a new, bigger one. It came down between a 8 gallon Shop-Vac (Model #586-70) and this 9 gallon Rigid. The shop-vac was about $15 more and one less gallon, so I figured I would go with the Ridgid. Seeing that Ridgid has a good name in tools I figured I wouldn't go wrong.
Right out of the box it worked as it should... lots and lots of suction power. I can't see how another reviewer said it wouldn't pick up a finishing nail because it could suck up a whole box of them!!
The bigger diameter 1 7/8" hose was a little awkward at first as I was used to the much smaller diameter 1 1/4" one on my old shop-vac but it was flexible and easy to use when vacuuming my truck out once I got used to it so no complaints there, if I ever need to suck up water I think I will be happy it has a bigger hose!
I recommend this vac...for the price you can't go wrong for a top brand like Ridgid....

Rated 1 out of 5Â by HandymanReggie Good low priced unit done in by fatal flaw
I got this vac to supplement my primary - one to leave in the barn to keep tack and utility rooms clean. At the lower price point, I wasn't expecting something comparable to my old vac, but I was expecting a lot more than this one delivered.
The cord storage isn't great (loosely looped around the motor), but I can live with that. The static suction is strong, but the air flow rate is anemic. Still, I could live with that on a cheaper vac. (I'm spoiled by the higher power and 2" hose on my primary vac.)
There is one fatal flaw that I can't live with, however... There is no seal between the top/motor and the canister. When the vac is on, the vacuum pulls the top tight, so it's fine. When you turn the motor off, though, the top has a little up and down play that results in puffs of dirt/dust being pumped out of the machine when moving it around. It's a shame that they saved a buck or two by omitting a compession type seal that would have made this an acceptable machine. As a tinkerer, my first thought was to make or find a seal, but I shouldn't have to do that to a new machine, so it's going back. (Attached photo shows the dust on the cord - a result of moving the vacuum a couple of feet after finishing my first chore.)
As is, this vacuum might be acceptable to someone who is using it as a dust collector or cleaning large quantities of sawdust, etc. Be aware that low airflow means you need to keep the utility nozzle flat on the floor to get much other than light dust. I certainly would advise against spending money on the suggested fine dust or allergen filters.
I do like the innovative pop-off filter and the accessory holders on the feet. Unlike some other reviewers, I don't find this machine excessively noisy. (FWIW, I do have a 25+ year old higher power machine to compare it with.)
