Customer Questions & Answers

can you make the top of the tool metal or offer a metal add-on to handle the large nut? The plastic tool loses grip and only ends up wearing it out.

Asked by: Anonymous
This plastic composite quasi-basic wrench is not a cure-all for the old style type basin wrenches and in those instances where you have difficulty loosening/removing frozen faucet nuts you must resort back to the old style basin wrench. What I have found is if you have a complete decent set of car impact 6-point sockets you can use the appropriate sized (13/16") impact socket and very lone extension bar and ratchet to free up your frozen basin nut. Be sure and pre-soak the frozen nut the night before with a good quality penetrating oil. FYI, this plastic composit Ridgid resin basin wrench is perfect to install new replacement faucets simply because newer faucets in the majority of cases now use undersink plastic basin nuts to secure the new fixtures.

Can't remove the 2"D X 2"D center basin hex nut/coulpler

I am having the MOST difficult time removing the center basin nut to replace my kitchen faucet. I have zero remove to maneuver due to existing disposal and only 5.5" from the back of sink to back of cabinet.(see pictures) The HD plumbing salesman said this product wouldn't work, but all I needed was a basin wrench. I got one, but it didn't work at all. The nut was too large for the basin wrench whether I take the disposal out or not. Will this tool work, or can you suggest a specific tool I can use. I am trying to avoid calling a costly plumber. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all of your answers. I found a Large Jaw Basin Wrench online that I couldn't find at any store or even plumbing supply house in my area.I got it off in 3 minutes. That tool is a killer cool. I'm glad I looked around. A plumber we old have chared me a arm and a leg to pull the disposal and replace the new faucet. I love when my novice DIY persistence pays off#

Don't know. But with the open side, I think it might. Otherwise, I didn't find the tool particularly helpful.

Is this a universal tool ? A few customers indicated that it doesn't work on Moen or Am. Std.

Asked by: Anonymous
It didn't work on my Delta faucet, so if others have had issues with Moen or American Standards, I think it's safe to say this is NOT a universal tool.

If I understand the question correctly, then the tool pictured is not the one that you need. I have posted a picture for a Strainer lock nut wrench.

This particular nut had 4 tabs on it and the tool simply chewed up the tabs so I created my own tool to remove the other nut which worked fine. I had to drill and cut the damaged nut to remove it which took quite a bit more effort. I intended to return the tool, but kept it for the metal surface side of the tool. I feel the tool would be fine if it had metal inserts in the plastic slots which would prevent slippage. The tool I made consisted of a section of 1 1/4" pipe and I cut four slots in one end and inserted a 3/4" drive socket in opposite end due to space restrictions and removal was very easy.

I purchased this faucet sink and faucet installer tool to remove an old faucet and replace it with a new one. It is very well built and worked great. Unfortunately for me it only if one of the nuts on the old faucet and only one nut on the new faucet. It did however fit the shutoffs. It did a great job on what it did fit. So if you purchased this be prepared to use other tools to complete the job. If I were to improve this tool I would have to add more adapters for more sizes of nuts and fittings.

I purchased this solely to be able to remove and replace a kitchen faucet and couldn't get the old plastic nuts to break loose. After a quick search for a tool that could help remove those, I found this tool and picked it up. This makes the removal and reinstallation of a faucet a very quick and easy process. In addition, it will also turn stuck valves, hold a strainer in place, and turn the other common plumbing hex nuts.

RIDGID Faucet and Sink Installer Tool - I believe this tool is a wonderful tool if, if,if it fits your kitchen faucet removal and installation fixtures. The straight line way it works and the grip it offers is ideal. It would be better if it came with varying size attachments or an adjustable one that allowed fits to other sizes. Consequently, I'm giving this tool a 3 star rating because it was a waste of money for me but not completely worthless. It does fit the new faucet but not the old one allowing me to remove it. I will retain it in case RIGID listens to users about providing other sizes for the tool or in case it fits my bathroom faucet installer needs. Or future kitchen faucet. It really is a good idea, just incomplete in concept. If you are seeking a kitchen faucet installer, I'd suggest avoiding this for now unless you know for 100% certainty it fits.

I've used it now on several changeouts and once you figure out which end and adapter to use its great. I can see where it might have issues with old seized / frozen nuts but so does everything else. It worked great for me on 20 yr old faucets. It makes tightening the faucet and supply nuts a breeze! I've already told everyone they can use it when they buy their own! It does take a couple of times using it to really appreciate it. I recommend before you crawl under the sink to test its fit on the new faucet to figure out which configuration you need. Note: don't do anything for those faucets with the toggle wings and screw type hold downs but a deep well socket and extensions works great on those.

The faucet was a two hole with separate supply lines. Saved my knuckles and worked great. I can see how this would be a problem with the single hole sinks where the tool would not fit over all the supply lines. Maybe in the future there will be a modification to work on a single hole model or where all the supply lines are in one hole on some newer models. All in all, for the time and ease for doing this one job , it was worth the money!

This tool made the job of removing the old faucet and installing the new a breeze. Both my rotator cuffs are torn and I cannot stretch my arms out all the way. This tool removed both the metal nuts and plastic nuts with ease. The length of the tool and the size of the area you grasp to turn it are excellent. You get great leverage. I cannot say enough good things about this tool. Best $17.00 I spent!
