The work surface can lock in 45 degrees, parallel with the floor, and -45 degrees. It can move to -90 degrees and 90 degrees relative to the floor, but it cannot lock in those positions.

I just bought two of these about 45 days ago and after pretty light use the inner threading to the handle on one unit just broke yesterday, so it would appear not.

As an update, I did purchase the unit. I have not had any issue with the handle, but of course I know to be careful with it. This product works as it should and I am glad to have it in my home workshop. I don't think I stroll through the tool department at my local HD without considering the purchase of a second one.

Answer:
I don't know if the handle has changed since the time you entered this question. However, I have not had that problem although I can see why some might have a problem. The handle that came on my units are plastic and could be broken if one were to over-tighten the clamp. My stands only take a moderate amount of pressure to securely hold the pad in place.

I just purchased my second flip-top bench and it has the same cheap 'pot-metal' handle that broke off on my first flip-top. The manufacture has not fixed this problem to date so have a pair of vice-grips handy.

We are not receiving reports of adjustment handles breaking on the model AC9934 indicated in the link. For those customers that experienced a handle breakage with the previous model AC9933, the AC9934 handle #000999130700 is available as a replacement.

Answer:
It is the strongest type of one I have used. Using it for feeding out from a table saw or other tool, for long lengths of wood, it is plenty strong. I would guess it would support well over 150 lbs. Unless using it for some other purpose than a feeding table, I don't know why you would need anything stronger.

Answer:
The adjustment handle supplied is perfectly adequate for the job. People having trouble with this are twisting it too hard. You don't have to use Gorilla Strength -- hand tight is plenty to snug everything down.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 89 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I own 2 and they are well made and very helpful. Easy to assemble and transport. Highly recommended. April 28, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Work support It is a good little material support station. It is somewhat light duty the pin that holds the fliptop flat slides into a plastic hole. Any stress at all on that causing it to break or crack and you will be repairing it .. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very versatile I have 4 in my shop. I use them for our feed and in feed on a table saw and planer, I used them with a piece of 3/4 ply for a temporary bench and to cut large sheet goods, they are great for painting cabinets. The locking pin works flawlessly every time. Miter saw on 2, then the other two adjusted to use to cut long stock. Wood slides across top, I wax the tops for even better slide. Highly recommend more than 1. April 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Hesitate to Buy Works great with my mitre saw and a big help cutting longer pieces. Also very handy in general around the shop. My spine appreciates anything to reduce the number of bendover jobs. Very sturdy and easy to use. I have needed something like this for years. KUDOS! April 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good basic function & value This is best so far of various basic stands purchased over past 30 yrs. Useful height range, stable, robust height lock handle. Folds flat for storage. March 22, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tightening bolt broke after 1 month of light use I really like the idea of this product - good design, easy to use, and seems sturdy. It could easily bear the weight of long 4x4s I was ripping as they came off the end of my table saw, but after only about a month of light use, the inner threading on the tightening handle ripped out. This is the second time a part like this has failed on me on a Ridgid product; the other being the tightening knob on a miter gauge on my Ridgid cast iron table saw. Again, that product was well designed, but the hardware is of poor quality. Ridgid, please work with your contract manufacturers - the quality of their hardware is unacceptable. I have several of your power tools and am considering moving to another brand, even if I have to pay a premium. June 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The second worker This tool is like having a second set of hands in the shop when working with long boards, jointing, planing or ripping. Only problem is making sure you add weight to it to keep it on from binding up your project. (Rigid added hooks to hang weights.) Recommended to me by a friend, and I recommend it to anyone in a one person shop. Going to get a second one for in-feed as well. March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best out feed stand I've used Years ago on This Old House they showed Norm Abrams version of a flip down stand. For yours after I kept saying I should build one of my own but kept fighting with my crummy roller stands. I saw this a month ago bought one and I can confidently it's fantastic! Always flips back to the ready position so if you are doing repeated cuts its always ready. Love it February 25, 2016
