Customer Questions & Answers

Has the issue of the blades falling out been fixed?

I just bought this saw (without research) to do a project this weekend. Once I checked reviews I see there are problems with the blades falling out. Had I known I wouldn't have given this product any consideration, it appears not to be a new problem. Before I get into my laundry room remodel and find that my saw won't hold the blade I would rather just return it for another brand if the issue hasn't been resolved.

No, the problem has not been fixed. Do not buy this saw.

You can buy a new one if you want but if you want the orbital action, Bosch makes a nice saw.

The other day, the switch jammed in the on position. I registered the purchase with Ridgid when purchased to comply with the warranty requirements. The 3 year is long expired but the switch should be covered under the lifetime warranty. WRONG! the film flam insurance company behind the lifetime warranty said it wasn't registered properly and denied the repair. It's a decent saw but don't expect more than the factory 3 year warranty, the lifetime isn't worth the bother. BTW, I was informed by the repair house that Ryobi uses the same junk insurance company for their warranty. I purchased the switch myself and will replace. In the mean time, I picked up a Bosch to complete the project.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality I had this saw for 9 months i used it for remodel and framing jobs for work. this saw is only good for light weekend projects. The gear box broke on the saw. i am guessing they used thin cast iron for the gears instead of heavy steel.

I have had this several years but the usage has been infrequent. Up to now, it has worked well and never has disappointed. Unfortunately, the "lifetime warranty" doesn't exist when you didn't register the product and keep the receipt. See the fine print.

It needs a complete overhaul of the gearbox. Guarantee was rejected due to "lack of maintenance". Nobody can explain how a relatively new saw can be determined to have a lack of maintenance other than it had drywall dust from home demolition. $216 to have it repaired. Poor design allows dust to enter gearbox. Not sure how I could have blown out dust any other way to avoid issues. I gave it 1 star but it deserves a zero. Luckily my other saw (that is 21 year old) still keeps running and I could finish the work while it took 2 weeks for Home Depot to determine my new Ridgid was junk due to "lack of maintenance".

The straps inside the bag that are to hold the tool are to short to be effective. Very comparable to the other manufactures - but then again how can u beat the lifetime guarantee!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used this to cut hurricane shutter panels to size.... I used this to cut hurricane shutter panels to size. It did a great job. I purchased blades and went through about 3 to cut 20 panels. It seemed to have plenty of power for the job. If it could so this then I am very confident that it can cut other materials like wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This Ridgid met my expectations and then some. It got the job done for what I needed and it will work for futures jobs/projects. The price was good and you cant beat the warranty on these Ridgid's.
