Has the issue of the blades falling out been fixed?

I just bought this saw (without research) to do a project this weekend. Once I checked reviews I see there are problems with the blades falling out. Had I known I wouldn't have given this product any consideration, it appears not to be a new problem. Before I get into my laundry room remodel and find that my saw won't hold the blade I would rather just return it for another brand if the issue hasn't been resolved.

5/26/16 No, this problem has not been fixed. My unit won't hold blades either. Also, the RIDGID response to this question is for you to return the unit to a service center and they will fix it. They will ONLY fix it if they can replicate the problem. Obviously with so many reviews stating the blade falling out (39 and counting), this must be a design flaw with possibly no reliable fix. I am still trying to get mine fixed. All I need to do is have the blade fall out while a repair tech is watching me.

can i replace old one with new one?

Yes, you can purchase a new one and use it in place of your old one, or you can have your old one repaired. To obtain warranty service or repairs if you are located within the Continental U.S., you may return the product to The Home Depot store nearest you. The Special Services Desk Representative can help you with repair process and procedures of your product. You also have the option of taking your product to your nearest Authorized RIDGID Service Center for service or repair. If you are located outside the Continental U.S., you will need to take or send your product in to your nearest Authorized RIDGID Service Center for repair. If you have the original Lifetime warranty, you will need to provide your receipt when seeking coverage. For the newer Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) coverage, you will need to provide your LSA verification/customer ID number when seeking coverage. For customers that have not obtained the LSA coverage for their tool, the purchase receipt or the tools serial number can be used to provide warranty coverage under the standard 3-year warranty that all new RIDGID power tool purchases carry. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought this saw a little over 90 days ago and it is shot. It needs a complete overhaul of the gea... Bought this saw a little over 90 days ago and it is shot. It needs a complete overhaul of the gearbox. Guarantee was rejected due to "lack of maintenance". Nobody can explain how a relatively new saw can be determined to have a lack of maintenance other than it had drywall dust from home demolition. $216 to have it repaired. Poor design allows dust to enter gearbox. Not sure how I could have blown out dust any other way to avoid issues. I gave it 1 star but it deserves a zero. Luckily my other saw (that is 21 year old) still keeps running and I could finish the work while it took 2 weeks for Home Depot to determine my new Ridgid was junk due to "lack of maintenance".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wont Hold a Blade Spend the extra money and get a Milwaukee. The saw is incapable of holding a blade even with light use. Rigid no longer seems to be concerned about quality. I hate to throw out a saw but I am not sure what good it is without holding a blade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it! There must be a lot of people who really don't like Ridgid out there. I read the reviews and almost didn't buy this saw. I have used this saw a lot for the past few months and have had no Robles with the blade falling out of the chuck. My advice is if you don't know how to use a tool properly, read the manual. I have had a great experience using Ridgid tools so far, and this saw is no exception. Follow their instructions to obtain warranty and it's worth the work. This saw is comfortable in the hand, not too heavy and cuts nice and smoothly. I use diablo blades in it and it works like a charm.

I had relied on Ridgid brand being a quality tool, and I'm sure it is if the blade clamp would hold the blade. It took me 20 minutes to make a 10 inch cut in a piece of 3/4 inch plywood with having to stop every 30 seconds or so to reinsert the blade. I like all the other features of the saw but it is of no use if it won't hold a blade.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good thing it has a lifetime warranty Everything I have a project and go to find this saw it is in the shop being repaired. I get it back only for the same issues to happen again and send it back to the shop. Anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks for a repair. I will never buy another rigid tool. Lifetime warranty isn't worth the headaches and you need to have a spare on hand anyway.

I have had this several years but the usage has been infrequent. Up to now, it has worked well and never has disappointed. Unfortunately, the "lifetime warranty" doesn't exist when you didn't register the product and keep the receipt. See the fine print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Updated Saw Bought this saw to replace an aging saw that made odd noises. Have to admit that I was extremely happy at how powerful this saw is and yet how light weight it is. Surprised at the ease of use and the fact that though I had a cut saw, the reciprocating action is totally new. Thanks for this saw.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality I had this saw for 9 months i used it for remodel and framing jobs for work. this saw is only good for light weekend projects. The gear box broke on the saw. i am guessing they used thin cast iron for the gears instead of heavy steel.
