I spotted this on sale and since my CT mastercraft circular saw has a bent base I decided to give it a try. It's a cheaper one with a stamped steel base. I learned from that that I didn't want another saw with that type of base.
So far I'm really impressed with the Fuego. That's what Ridgid calls it, no kidding. It's compact but quite heavy. To me heavy translates to good quality. It feels good in the hands and cuts very precisely. I showed it to a friend who's done plenty of carpentry work and he was really impressed. He commented on the heaving housing and the overall quality.
It also has a thick heavy duty magnesium base. I won't be bending that anytime soon and that means my cuts will remain bang on.
There are a ton of thoughtful little touches on it as well. For example, if you're cutting at a 45 degree angle there is a mark that shows where to line up the cut. Another one; the hex key for changing the blade stows securely and out of the way on the base. Yet another one is the plywood gauging system. The various thicknesses of plywood are marked on the housing so you can drop the blade very precisely and they are positively engaged with a click. It's too bad more products don't have this level of engineering built into them.
If I had to complain about something it would be that the included blade is only a 20 tooth. But then again, it is a small "framing" saw so I wouldn't remove a star for that.
Oh and if you're the type that are really angered when a piece of equipment comes with a short cord this little guy will put a smile on your face. It's got a solid 10 feet of cord. Very nice Ridgid! It shows you care more about the customer than squeezing out the last dime. Maybe Makita could take a page from your book. I just bought the drill/torque driver combo and those clowns couldn't be bothered to include a bit socket and a couple of bits. REALLY MAKITA?!?! REALLY?! It's going back...but I digress.
5 out of 5 for the Ridgid and would recommend it to the DIYer. I'll leave professional carpenters to do the pro review. ;)

Excellent saw. Light, fast and easy to use. The blade guard flips up easily for straight, angled or beveled cuts allowing you to hold onto the piece of wood you are cutting with your left hand, not flipping up the guard. It is nice using a saw like this all day long instead of some of the heavier ones available. For the price, this is an unbelievable saw. I highly recommend it to the hobbist or the contractor. Awesome product!

This saw is fantastic and should be the first saw for every one. I'm 47 and have been working in renovation for a long time. Since I got this saw every time I cut a board I have a smile on my face and my tennis elbow agrees with me. Why use a big saw when this one does the job. I'm here today because I'm thinking of buying a second one, just in case this one brakes and I would have to go back to my old 7 1/4 Porter cable.

Small but mighty. Light saw making for fast and accurate cuts. Worked great on the first of my many to-do list projects. Great value for the money and a lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either.
