This drill is quality you can feel. It has a nice heavy duty feel to it. This drill comes with the newer orange plastic batteries that are better than the black/gray plastic batteries (i found this out after lots of research). This drill has good power for its size. The LED is nice because after you stop squeezing the trigger it stays on for about 15 seconds. With the ryobi 12 volt version you had to squeeze battery pack to remove it from charger, not this one. The only advantage the ryobi 12 volt version has over this one is that it has a flat battery pack. I would not recommend anyone to leave this drill standing up on the small battery footprint. Also the ergonomics on your hand is perfect, fits like a glove. The ratcheting chuck is awesome, you will feel when the bit is secured compared to non ratcheting chuck. If you want to buy it at the store and you do not see it on the shelves, talk to the "inventory guy" , he will get it for you no problems. The regular HD guys will not even bother to get it for you even though the website says they have it in stock and you ask them for the 12 volt drill. They will tell you if it is not on the shelf we do not have it. This is because this is a very new product for home depot. We will see 6 years from now how good the Lifetime "warranty" is. YOU HAVE TO REGISTER ONLINE TO GET MORE THAN THREE YEARS OF WARRANTY. AND YOU HAVE 90 DAYS TO DO IT.

Please stay away from this drill, it works great but the batteries dies too soon. I bought the set with the flashlight for $149.00. You will get aggravated going to the process to get warranties for this product. Only certain Home Depot will process your warranty. Only if you registered the product and only Monday to Friday. So if you work full time during the week, I wish you luck trying to get warranties. I'm on my second dead batteries. Not worth the effort. This is a good product until the batteries die. You have all been warned.so if you buy do not complain.

I received this drill package as a gift about 2 years ago... As a home owner my use is limited. After two years, one of the batteries has failed. I contacted Rigid since I was told it was a life time warranty. It turns out that the warranty only applies if you keep the receipt and register the product on line with them within 90 days. Since this was a gift to me, I did not have the required documentation. .. Turns out it is not worth buying a new battery. I tossed it and bought a new drill package... a different brand this time. Reliability was an issue. Company backing of their product was another. Hopefully this gives you some insight on the reliability of this product over time

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TT123 Over a year of consistent use and still going strong
Have owned and used this drill regularly for cabinet and furniture applications for over a year, and it has performed extremely well. Definitely my go-to drill/driver for light and medium duty applications. Still on first set of batteries, and they are going strong after many charge cycles. Ergonomics are great, and the drill has a lot of power for a 12V drill. Was considering buying Milwaukee instead, but after my experience with this tool, I will be purchasing a second of these Rigid drills as well as the 12V Fuego impact driver.

Nice & light drill, easy to use. Until one of my new battery packs died. I found out that even though I mailed all of my warranty info in, Rigid failed to honor their lifetime warranty.
Their warranty is the equivalent of a rebate. You mail all the required warranty info to them & hope you get coverage. For whatever reason they denied mine!!!
AVOID RIGID TOOLS!!!!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by tsteves5 Battery/charger issues right out of the box!
During the very first charge, the charger began indicating that the battery was defective. This is the second cordless drill in two days from HD that has had problems right of the box. I haven't decided if I want to exchange it for another or get my money back and start shopping with the competitors.
On a positive note, this is the only brand of drill I have seen that offers a lifetime warranty that includes the batteries.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jeff Biggest piece of junk I've ever owned
The batteries and charger for this drill are horrible. I've replaced 4 batteries and a charger under warranty but you have to go through a Rigid authorized repair center and there is only on in my city.
The batteries seem to go bad sitting on the shelf. I have barely used the drill which looks brand new.
I own a couple other Rigid power tools and they give great service but this particular drill is a piece of junk. I'm done wasting time and money with warranty service trying to get this thing to work.
